TEXT
EXODUS 2:1-10; ENGLISH STANDARD VERSION (ESV)
2 Now a man from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. 2 The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. 3 When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes[a] and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank. 4 And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him. 5 Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her young women walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her servant woman, and she took it. 6 When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby was crying. She took pity on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews' children.” 7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, “Shall I go and call you a nurse from the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?” 8 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, “Go.” So the girl went and called the child's mother. 9 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him. 10 When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, “Because,” she said, “I drew him out of the water.”
SERMON BRIEF
CENTRAL IDEA OF THE TEXT
The protagonist of the Exodus is introduced. Moses is protected by God’s sovereign hand from death in the Nile, pulled out to safety, and the future delivery of the Hebrews is placed in the palace of Pharaoh, all by God’s hand.
CENTRAL IDEA OF THE SERMON
Moses serves as a biblical type to show that he first past through the waters and is pulled out of death. In the same manner, the greater Moses, Jesus pulls us from death to himself.
STICKY STATEMENT
Jesus draws us out, to draw us close to Him.

Allegory vs Typology
Typology is: the deliverer
· Jesus was a baby on the run from an evil edict.
· Jesus, as a baby went to Egypt.
· Jesus was tempted and wondered in the wilderness for 40 days. (wilderness wondering)
· Jesus feed the masses with bread and fish (manna)
· Jesus stood on a mountain and delivered the law of God (giving of the 10 commandments)
· Jesus walked on water
5 Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.[2]

GOD HAS INITIATED COMMON GRACE
The Person In The Seats Who Keeps Coming
GOD HAS INITIATED THE AFFECTIONATE CALL
GOD HAS INITIATED A PLAN
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. [3]
GOD HAS INITIATED PAYMENT
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. [4]
GOD HAS INITIATED YOUR PATH
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. [5]
24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.[6]
