How to Live the Christian Life?

Introduction: The Christian life is only lived in Our Lord Jesus Christ as the Apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
13 For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need.

It's a life takes a divine transformation by the great power of God.

If we try to do or as some might say to practice it we will find ourselves discouraged with a deep desire to just quite.

I. What is a Christian?

to anoint.

Christós, Christ - Anointed, a term used in the OT applied to everyone anointed with the holy oil, primarily to the high priesthood Leviticus 4:5 (NKJV)
5 Then the anointed priest shall take some of the bull's blood and bring it to the tabernacle of meeting.

Christianós):

ianos - Originally applied to the slaves belonging to the great households—of an individual or a party. A Christian is thus simply of Christ (household or party).

The name given by the Greeks or Romans, probably of ridicule, insulting, and abuse to the followers of Jesus.

The word apprears three times in the New Testament.

First in Acts 11:26 .....Acts 26:28  Secondly from King Agrippa as an insult.. 1 Peter 4:16 thirdly by the Apostl as a word of encourgement for suffering believers.

Acts 11:26 (NKJV)
26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

They were known to each other as:

a.) brethren

Acts 15:1 (NKJV)
1 And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, "Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved."

b.) disciples
Acts 9:26 (NKJV)
26 And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple.

c.) believers

Acts 5:14 (NRSV)
14 Yet more than ever believers were added to the Lord, great numbers of both men and women,

d.) saints
Romans 15:25 (NIV)
25 Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the saints there.

                   The Christian Life
