Introduction

More and More we live in a world of fear
Our world would rather highlight death than survival
A world that would rather say do this or die
A world that advertises and breeds discontentment and anxiety.
My life isn’t good enough
My job isn’t good enough
My wardrobe isn’t good enough
My job isn’t good enough
My house isn’t good enough
My country isn’t good enough
My wife isn’t good enough
My husband isn’t good enough
My church isn’t good enough
My preacher isn’t good enough
A world that says pursue happiness!
A world that says nothing is ever good enough nor was good enough
A world that says you owe me something!
A world that says its your fault
A world that says I can’t cope
A world says I want to do it my way
A world that emphasizes mental health over God
A world that says worships Satan out fear and discontentment!
A world that says I can fix it myself, fix myself, please myself, indulge myself
A world that is so anxious to get what it wants, desires, and aspire too.
Satan the prince of the air is the culprit behind all of this anxiety as he controls the air through information, misinformation, and disinformation.
He spreads fear, hatred, and anxiety through the airwaves of social media, the internet, and television
He breeds fear, discontentment, hatred,
A world that says God is not good enough
A world that says I cannot trust God
A world that says look to something else rather than God.
The Church Cannot Be Like The World
The world wants to control everybody
The world want to control everything
The world wants to take away freedoms
The world wants to take away all anxieties without God.
The world does not understand it will continue to have more anxiety without God.
David understood something that Paul is emphasizing in the New Testament: God is the cure for anxiety.
I want you to see what Paul is saying in the book of Philippians through what David said in Psalm 23.
Psalm 23:1 NKJV
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
The Lord is my shephard, I shall be anxious for nothing
Psalm 23:2 NKJV
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
He makes me lie down in green pastures I shall be anxious for nothing
He leads me beside the still waters I shall be anxious for nothing
Psalm 23:3 NKJV
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
He restores my soul
I shall be anxious for nothing
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
I shall be anxious for nothing
For His name’s sake
I shall be anxious for nothing
Psalm 23:4 NKJV
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall be anxious for nothing
I will fear no evil, I shall be anxious for nothing
Since YOU are with me I shall be anxious for nothing
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me
I shall be anxious for nothing
Psalm 23:5 NKJV
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, I shall be anxious for nothing
You anoint my head with oil
My cup runs overs
so I’m anxious for nothing
Psalm 23:6 NKJV
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life I will anxious for nothing
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever and be anxious for nothing.
Paul understood what David understood and is that God is the answer to anxiety.
God’s Love and promises through His Word, His Son, and His Spirit can cure anxiety.
We are the Church of Christ

We Should Not Worry About Anything

Philippians 4:6 NKJV
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
Be Anxious for Nothing
Anxious
Nothing

We Should Pray About Everything

Philippians 4:6 NKJV
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
But in everything
Prayer
Supplication
Philippians 2:14 NKJV
Do all things without complaining and disputing,
Philippians 2:15 NKJV
that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
Philippians 2:16 NKJV
holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.

We Should Be Thankful For Everything

Philippians 4:6 NKJV
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
1 Thessalonians 5:17 NKJV
pray without ceasing,
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV
in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

We Should Have Peace in Everything

Philippians 4:7 NKJV
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
And the peace of God
Surpasses all understanding
will Guard Your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus
John 14:27 NKJV
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Let your requests be made Known to God
