Galatians 5:6 CSB
6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.
Galatians 5:6 The Message
6 For in Christ, neither our most conscientious religion nor disregard of religion amounts to anything. What matters is something far more interior: faith expressed in love.
What matters most to God: LOVE
1 Corinthians 13:1–13 CSB
1 If I speak human or angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give away all my possessions, and if I give over my body in order to boast but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant, 5 is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not irritable, and does not keep a record of wrongs. 6 Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will come to an end. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put aside childish things. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known. 13 Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love—but the greatest of these is love.
God says the same thing 5 different ways.
Nothing I SAY will matter 1 Corinthians 13:1
1 Corinthians 13:1 CSB
1 If I speak human or angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
It’s just noise
2. Nothing I KNOW will matter 1 Corinthians 13:2
1 Corinthians 13:2 CSB
2 If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.
You still are missing the point
3. Nothing I BELIEVE will matter 1 Corinthians 13:2
1 Corinthians 13:2 (CSB)
2 If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.
1 John 4:8 CSB
8 The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:20 CSB
20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and yet hates his brother or sister, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother or sister whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
4. Nothing I GIVE will matter 1 Corinthians 13:3
1 Corinthians 13:3 CSB
3 And if I give away all my possessions, and if I give over my body in order to boast but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Not all giving is pure (Peoples motives)
5. Nothing I ACCOMPLISH will matter. 1 Corinthians 13:3
1 Corinthians 13:3 (The Message)
3 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
What is Love?
Command - It’s not optional
John 13:34 CSB
34 “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another.
2. Choice - It’s not forced. We have a choice to accept or reject that command.
1 Corinthians 14:1 (The Message)
1 Go after a life of love as if your life depended on it—because it does. Give yourselves to the gifts God gives you. Most of all, try to proclaim his truth.
3. Conduct - Action
1 John 3:18 CSB
18 Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.
4. Commitment - It keeps on giving
1 John 4:16 CSB
16 And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.
