Christina bought me a pair of Air Jordan’s
For a while, Michael Jordan who played for the Chicago Bulls and won 6 NBA champion ships, was the most recognizable athlete in the world.
Known for his deal with Nike for $250 million but did not sell one pair of shoes.
In the first year of his Jordan one 3 to 4 million pairs of shoes were sold.
The Highest Selling Pair of Shoes: The final hammer price swelled to a record-breaking $560,000.
He was fired from the Washington Wizards. He later went through a divorce. People said he looked like a lost soul. One of the greatest challenges of an athlete, especially those that have been successful at what they do is discovering who they after playing the game they love.
What do you do when the shoes you are wearing can no longer take you to the future God is planning.
Exodus 3:3–5 NIV
3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” 4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” 5 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
In blog called "Seek Your Purpose Before Your Paycheck," the writer shares:
In a new national survey (2016), 18-24-year-olds report that having a clear purpose in life is a big part of being a "real" adult. But only 43% say they have a clear picture of what they want in life, 36% say their career path aligns with life purpose, and only 30% know why they are here.
God knows why you are here, the one that made is in the one
What you made from (dirt) does not determine you value, but who you’re made by.
Your calling in life goes far beyond a paycheck, God has chosen you for a purpose.
Many of us will spend our money buying the shoes, but we do not know where we are heading. God says, take your shoes off. You find your purpose in my presence.
Exodus 3:10 NIV
10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”
Could it be that one of the reasons we struggle so to find our purpose is we have confused our goals with our purpose?
Goal is to have a car, but it is another thing to have a destination.
Goal is to have a house, but God’s purpose is that have a home.
Goal is have the wedding of my dreams, but God’s purpose is to have a marriage.
Goal is to have a career, but God
Exodus 4:1–2 NIV
1 Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” 2 Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied.
o Today, as you spend some time on campus, my iPhone weather app tells me that it is going to be sunny all day. You will notice that there are some beautiful spots on campus, one of my favorite spots in the prayer garden on the promenade.
§ Maybe take a few moments to pray to God him to reveal his calling on your life. God, well haven’t figured all that out that is fine, God where do you want me to be these next four years to discover my calling.
§ What is the seed you have planted inside of me? We want to water it, nuture it and allow God to increase it in your life.
§ Then write it down.
§ If God would reveal himself to Paul, I know that the God who says you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.
Prayer:
· Seek Your Purpose Before Your Paycheck.
· Our talents is your gift to us, what we do with them is our gift to you.
