12 —> 70 = 1:5 Ratio of Multiplication
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Ephesians 3:10 “so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.”
Jesus’s command to pray to the Lord of Harvest to send out laborers is a prayer of adjustment.
And those willing to “count the cost of discipleship” are few.
Matthew 28:17-20 “And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””

Commissioning v1-3;
Go, Pray, Expect.
Go into the Harvest,
Pray for Laborers,
Expect opposition,
Expect Christ to follow.

Provisions v4

They were to GO in such a manner that they would rapidly go to the place and people they were sent to without being side-tracked or losing the vision
The level of trust is saying, “Go with no other supply but the Gospel message and trust that God will provide a person of peace to receive you.”
Provisions v4; Focused Urgency.
Strive with an almost single mindedness to reach the people the Lord of Harvest has sent you too through unrelenting focused urgency.
Romans 9:3 “For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.”

Person and House of Peace v5-7

The first form of door-to-door Evangelism being explained by Jesus to those He is sending out.
Person of Peace (POP)
House of Peace (HOP)
Accept Their Hospitality
John 11:44 “The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.””
They are a new creation and ambassadors, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
They are chosen priests, 1 Peter 2:9
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
They are saved
From Sin,
For God,
Into Christ’s Church,
Onto God’s mission.
House of Peace v5-7; Stay, Equip, Invest, Launch.
Stay with a new believer that has received you, the Gospel, and Christ until they are equipped knowing why, what, who, and when to share. Invest in that House of Peace so it can be a strategic point to Launch missionaries into the unreached community.

Actions in the Community v7-9

Contentment and contextualization are the path to learning the culture of the people. Actions that are applicable for the modern day believer that desires to share the Gospel Biblically.
The Disciples that entered had 2 tasks;
1) heal the sick, and
2) preach the Kingdom of God being near to them.
The Disciples were to love the people there by meeting their 2 most desperate needs, physical and spiritual sickness.
People will remain spiritually blind when consumed by real, felt or perceived needs.
Actions v8-9; Learn, Love, Listen, Share. Learn the way the culture of the people you seek to reach operates. Love them enough to Listen and meet their most desperate needs so when you Share the Gospel they see and hear the message.

Rejection of the Community v10-12

Sodom would fare better than those towns that reject Christ’s message
Will we refuse to be motivated so that we can be comfortable?
Matthew 28:17-18 “And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
Matthew 28:19-20Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
Rejection v10-12; Tell Everyone, Warn Everyone;
Don’t stop knocking on doors, don’t stop praying, don’t stop sharing until everyone knows that the Kingdom of God is here!
Commissioning v1-3; Go, Pray, Expect.
Provisions v4; Focused Urgency.
House of Peace v5-7; Stay, Equip, Invest, Launch.
Actions v8-9; Learn, Love, Listen, Share.
Rejection v10-12; Tell Everyone, Warn Everyone;
MIM: Just as the 72 Multiplied Disciples were sent out to preach, heal, and search for a person of peace to gain entry into a community, so we should follow this model to continue to spread the Gospel in communities of increased lostness or that are unreached.
