I was never holding you up so I could never let you down

God is self-existent

Who created God
Quote from A.W. Tozer
The child by his question, “Where did God come from?” is unwittingly acknowledging his creaturehood. Already the concept of cause and source and origin is firmly fixed in his mind. … he simply extends that concept upward to God
Look at Genesis 1:1
Genesis 1:1–2 ESV
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Look at John 1:3
John 1:3 ESV
3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Look at Romans 11:35-36
Romans 11:35–36 ESV
35 “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
God’s existence was before all things
There is no answering the question “where did god come from?” Because he always was
Read Exodus 3:1-4
Exodus 3:13–14 ESV
13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ”
Jesse talked about this fact last week
God is the I am
The one who cannot be known
yet can be known
The self existent God is the I am
He also needed no creator
So his name is his own

Why does this matter

If God had been creator a certain debt or ownership would be owed that creator
No one created God
No one created his glory
Romans 11:36 ESV
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
No one gave him Authority
He exsisted before all things
All things are owed him
No One was holding him up
in a sense no one can let him down
But know that he doesnt need us to show his glory
It is by his grace that we can show his glory
Luke 19:39–40 ESV
39 And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” 40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
All creation will cry out his glory
we must not forget our station
