Confidence- people will be more likely to follow a confident leader or an unconfident leader?
Rate how important confidence is for a leader?
Rate your confidence level ?
Confidence- having a feeling or belief that you can do something well or succeed at something . a person's belief that a chosen course of action is the right choice and that they can properly perform that action
Unconfident- lack confidence, unsure of ones ability to perform a task or job.
Underconfident, Self Confident, Over Confident
Over Confident- thinks my abilities are better than what they really are. Delusional about accomplishments. Prideful. Puts people at risk - Blind Spot
Self Confident- knows they have talents that can achieve. Achieves natural level accomplishments. Self Reliant v Team Reliant. We can become self confident when we get really good at using our talents. Not God reliant
Positive- Has learnt skills when submited to God can achieve
Un-Confident- thinks my abilities are not good enough. Low self esteem, self doubt, Dis beleive what God can do through them. Positive- Weakness causes them to cry out to God for help
Weakness To Strength- Being God Confident
2 Corinthians 12:7–10 (NKJV) 7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Weakness- incapacity, limitation, sickness,
Grace- Gift and favour and abilities given freely
Exalted- be overly proud, raise in pride, exalt self
The Key Always Be -Reliant On God-
Psalm 20:7 (NIV) 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Human/Natural Confidence- reliance on self rather than God. There is a danger when we become more confident that we rest on our human abilities.
Proverbs 3:26 (NKJV) 26 For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.
Trust-reliance on and confidence in a person
Leadership Faith- doing things that are beyound your abilities
Strength- dunamis
Strong- able, capable, powerful, made possible
Playing It Safe- if you only do things you are confident in you are not really walking in faith. Real faith is to belive for things that are beyond your own abilities
A Messenger of Satan- God uses the devil to guide us to greater reliance on Him.
2 Corinthians 12:7 (The Message) 7–10 Because of the extravagance of those revelations, and so I wouldn’t get a big head, I was given the gift of a handicap to keep me in constant touch with my limitations. Satan’s angel did his best to get me down; what he in fact did was push me to my knees. No danger then of walking around high and mighty!
Apostle Paul
1 Corinthians 2:2–5 (NKJV) 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Well Educated- Greek Scholar, Taught by Gamaliel
Philippians 3:4–6 (NIV) 4 though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.
Not Wrong To Feel Weakness- Wrong to be controlled by it
