Intro: show something that shows the upside down kingdom. trash that shows new york. Use it to lead to how God calls us to transform the world around us. What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ?
Points:
John 15:1-8
1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
2 Every branch in me that does not produce fruit he removes, and he prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit.
3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
4 Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me.
5 I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.
6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown aside like a branch and he withers. They gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.
8 My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be my disciples.
Abide: To recognize Jesus as the source
We are not raising a crowd, we are raising an army. A church movement that is so contagious and recognized by its love and dedication to Christ. Leaders who know their purpose, live it 100%, and influence the world around them.
2. Abide: To produce fruit
Without abiding you won’t last. Without abiding you will not make it. Jesus is the source of it all. He is revealed to us through the Bible, through each other, and through personal connection and revelation.
3. Abide: To be pruned
Growth must occur. You cannot stay where you are at. There is a season for everything, but it all must be in relation to growing. There is pruning involved. Removing things in you that are not good for you and for the kingdom of heaven.
4. Abide: To remain
This is a lifelong commitment. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Endurance is key.
You are all persons of influence
