Two Foundations: Rocks and Sand

Building your foundation is the most important aspect of the building process. If your foundation is weak, the house will be feeble. When the house is brittle, it cannot withstand the elements
Jesus says that He is the rock, and whoever would build their life on Him, His foundation, would stand. The key Jesus is sharing here is this: Listen, understand, and implement.
Why is it important that you listen to what Jesus is saying, understand what He is saying, and apply it into your daily life? Because the storm is coming. There is no way to avoid storms in your life. Some storms can be avoided by following God’s word, but some storms come regardless of how straight of a spiritual line you walk.
Have you ever said “well what did I do to deserve this?” or “God I don’t think that I deserved that one.” I know I have. Life comes with its own share of problems. We have anxieties, we are fatigued, we seem to be hit left and right from school work, and pressure in our social circles, and our pressure to have social circles, and pressure to perform a certain way and the list goes on and on. Storms come. The rain clouds seem to loom perilously at times, but God promises that those who stand in Him will stand firm when the winds pick up and the storms rage.
The man who built his house on the sand is called the foolish man. It is ignorant to build a building on something that will not hold it. Its like tight-roping with toilet paper. Sure its stretches out, and may at times look solid, but when you take a step you will fall to your death. If it drops a few drops of rain, or if the wind picks up the TP is broke. If you build a house on sand it will collapse.
If you try to live your life without Christ, it will crumble. If you try to stand before God on the grounds of anything but Jesus you will be crushed. Jesus says that those who will not listen are foolish. They are wasting their time. Everything they do is useless. If you saw a man trying to build a house on the water, what would you think? Would you think he was ignorant? Sure you would. Why? Because the house is surely going to collapse. There is no foundation.
The wise man is the one who builds his house on the Rock. The one who builds his life around Christ.
