God’s People’s Reactions Esther 4 – 7 – Sermon 3
When God had a plan, He’s going to provide or make a way.
Mordecai’s Counter Move 4:1-14
Tears his clothes Wears sackcloth and ashes – a sign of mourning, often accompanied by loud weeping.
This was not allowed near the palace
Esther tries to send him clothes so he could come to the palace and talk to her. He refuses Sends the notice to Esther Esther 4:4 Esther’s Good Grief – It’s amazing and sad how sometimes it takes drastic measures to move God’s people to action. We are to pray without ceasing, and yet sometimes it takes a catastrophe or some big problem to get us to really pray. To really seek God.
We know our loved one’s are out of the Ark of Safety and yet we can go on with life like nothing is wrong, till they are in an accident or get sick, or facing a terrible situation and then we start to pray. Sometimes I think we as Christian’s need some more of this kind of good grief if nothing else than to draw us closer to God. Esther’s Fasts & Feasts 4:15-7:2
4:14 For such a time as this – this is not a presumptuous statement, it is a prophetic statement. God does have people in certain places and times for a purpose.
When our car caught on fire. When we had our accident.
4:16 Esther has the people pray and fast for three days and nights – no food or drink, They were in a desperate situation. She does the same.
A determined move – There are times of prayer – and then there are times of action – but notice the order. If I perish, I perish 4:16
