Being Christ-Centered is the most imperative part of being a Christian. Jesus is the center of our faith and the entirety of scripture points to Him. In Genesis we first see Jesus alluded to in the Creation narrative in Genesis 1:26, “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” By using the plural form “we” many believe that Jesus was present at creation. In this moment we are getting a debut of the triune God; Father, Son and Spirit. Adam and Eve enjoyed the presence of God while living in unity with Him and each other in the garden until the serpent came and brought with him sin, division, and separation from God.
After the fall of mankind in Genesis 3, God gave them garments of skin, signifying the first sacrifice that would cover the sin of mankind. This was a preview to the ultimate sacrifice that would be necessary through Jesus Christ, which would ultimately save mankind. As we continue through the Bible we quickly find the story of Abraham. God chose Abram to be the father of the nation of Israel by first giving him a son in his old age. Abraham had to wait decades before seeing that promise fulfilled and before a son is ever born, God cuts a covenant with him in Genesis 15. This solidifies God’s promise to Abraham that his descendants would become God’s chosen nation and that they would someday possess the Promised land.
Every person has a point of origin around which their life revolves. Before coming to know Jesus, most people place themselves at that point of origin. We live to satisfy our selfish desires and needs in whatever way we see fit. We are unable to genuinely give love and life to those around us because we are preoccupied with trying to fill the void in our own lives even though it never seems to be satiated. In our fallen state, we are wanderers searching to find purpose, love, and acceptance. We are entrenched in sin, held by the powerful shackles of worldly desires, because our souls are an eternal vacuum of self-centeredness.
Jesus is the source of life, salvation, hope, love
John 5:39- You search the scriptures thinking you will find life, but
If you take Christ out of that equation, you will have no life, no salvation, and no hope.
John 10:10-abundant life
In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life.” He has and always will be the source of life. From the dawn of creation He has given life to all that exists. John 1:1-4 tells us, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”
