What is Stirring the Nest?
What is the Purpose of Stirring the Nest?
What is the Result of Stirring the Nest?
What is Stirring the Nest?
Stir means to wake up, to start moving, to agitate.
A stir is a move of God, but a move isn’t always a great revival.
The people were stirred to build the tabernacle in the wilderness.
And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.
And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats’ hair.
And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the Lord had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it:
Again when they rebuilt the temple.
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,
Sometimes God stirred up Israel’s enemies against them.
And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,
And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the Lord commanded.
Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.
And the Lord stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom.
again
And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
again
Moreover the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:
And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
Sometimes Kings were stirred up to fulfill prophecy.
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The Lord God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.
Sometimes our memory must be stirred.
Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
He wants you to be awake!
2. What is the Purpose of Stirring the Nest?
The eagle stirs the nest to allow the young she has raised to fly for themselves.
50 This mother, there comes a time, she’s got to stir up this nest, and she throws it all out, and throws all the soft part out, and puts some trials on you.
Now, what would a little buzzard do setting in that nest? He’d never get out of there; that’s all. But a eagle, he’s stirs his nest and he’s ready.
Now, one day, she says, “Now, I think it’s time to take my little children on a flight.” And she comes screaming out of the air, “Yeah, there comes mama.”
They know it. Just like a church filled with the Holy Ghost, when the Holy Ghost begins to fall, hands will go up, “Hallelujah, He’s here.” Amen.
“Oh, I’m so glad.” Why, here sets your neighbor there; you don’t care who’s setting there. Mother Jehovah is coming into the nest. Glory.
Let Him fall tonight. Let Him scatter His big wings across this place here, pack every person from a wheelchair, every sinner to the altar.
He will come riding in on the wings of an eagle. Amen. Oh, I feel good. Yes, sir, He will come in, if you’ll let Him.
If you’ll invite Him. You hear that scream come, “My sheep know My voice. They can tell that.”
51 Oh, I was talking to a doctor not long ago, and he said, “Billy.” I was having this meeting in a high school auditorium at Jeffersonville, at my home.
And the people got shouting and praising the Lord, down there, ’cause some things happened. And the doctor said to me…I said, “What do you think about that, Doc?”
He said, “Billy, you know what? I think them people are just excited.”
I said, “You’re a doctor, and you know you can’t be excited, ’less something’s there to excite you.”
Oh, glory to God, sure it does. It’s the Holy Ghost comes in and excites us; we’re ready to take a flight one of these days to Glory.
Sure, it’s excitable. If that wasn’t excitable, I’d change it for something that was excitable.
52 I can prove to you by science, that anything that doesn’t move is dead. That’s right. You know, if a baby’s born, and it don’t cry, it don’t squall, it don’t do nothing, that baby’s dead.
That’s what’s the matter with the church today; we’ve got too many stillborn babies. You know what the doctor usually does?
Pick him up by the heels, and give him a little posterior protoplasma stimulation. That fixes him up just right.
And what the church needs today is a good old-time stimulation of the power of the Holy Ghost to come into the church, tear us up, and shake us, stir up the nest, and blow out the loose feathers.
Pentecost needs a stirring. Amen. Blow out the loose feathers. We’re getting too much doubt among us, superstitions, and “Could it be so? Would it so.”
Certainly, it’s so. God’s Word said it’s so. Eagle’s food proves it’s so. Amen. Sure it is. Eagle Jehovah comes in and stirs up the nest. And the church is getting too…It’s stagnated. Yeah. Better come in and stir it up.
53 Well, you say, “Brother Branham, I’ve already got the Holy Ghost.” Yeah, but it gets some loose feathers in there. See? 60-0804 - As The Eagle Stirreth Up Her Nest
We need a nest stirring.
3. What is the Result of Stirring the Nest?
Eagles learn how to fly.
43 Now, the old mother eagle’s determined that they won’t get adjusted to that nest too much.
And God’s just determined that a new borned babe isn’t going get too adjusted to this world.
That’s right. He don’t want us to get adjusted here. He’s going to get ready to take us on a flight.
60-0804 - As The Eagle Stirreth Up Her Nest
I believe God is stirring the nest of this Message today.
What has He done to the nest?
We have been stirred by Spiritual Death in the Land.
America.
Denominations.
A great falling away.
We have been stirred by False Brethren.
Anointed false ones.
Men who make themselves the Message.
Egregiously false doctrine.
We have been stirred by a Pandemic.
Churches closed.
People immobilized by fear.
We have been stirred by the loss of loved ones.
Some have to go that way.
We have been stirred by Revelation.
When has the Word been this clear?
We have been stirred by the Move of the Spirit.
Youth.
Divine Healing.
Pool of Bethesda.
36 God, how happy we would be, if You’d just now…I know You’ve already done the healing,
if You could just give them a little extra push tonight, as it was, just push them into the pool while it’s troubled, Lord.
Grant it. And maybe that same Angel that whirled down from the skies and troubled that water, maybe that’s the same One that comes night after night.
I do not know; Thou knowest. But the Bible said it was an Angel, I believe it. And I pray, Father, that while the waters will be stirred tonight, troubled, choppy,
people raising up here, looking at that, screaming out, may every one, the Angel of God just spread His great wings, as it were, around this building tonight, and push every one right into the pool.
And may there come a perfect healing tonight, healing of soul and body, through this building. May there not be a feeble one, Lord, left.
52-0718 - For Him Will I Accept
The Message of the Hour has stirred us.
Isaac and Rebekah.
30 She made her decisions quick. Watch her real quick then in the meeting. Quickly, if they’re ordained to Eternal Life, they’ll know it. There’s something in the message that stirs them.
That’s what stirred Rebekah. The message stirred her, Angel was leading her. Oh, can’t you see the picture?
The Angel of the Lord leading her. Then she was stirred. And immediately when she watered the camel, the gift went on her.
He begin to take out the earrings, which means faith cometh by hearing, (you see), put the bracelets on, the works of your hands. He got her ready.
As soon as she begin to water, give the waters of Life, testify, tell others, get the message out. Tell them what has happened to you.
31 And then there was another great decision had to be made. Then after she was given, then the parents said, “Well, I would…Just let her stay around about ten days.”
Let her hang around the revival to really feel whether she has decided to do it or not. I haven’t got much confidence in a person make a decision to wait even until tomorrow.
But the message had stirred Rebekah. She was satisfied the message was from God.
So the parents said, “Oh, let her stick around awhile. She’ll get over it. It’s just a little excitement. She was over to that revival, you know, and…”
But, oh, Then the true servant said, “Don’t weary us. Don’t hinder me.” A lot of the servants of God has been hindered by put-off decisions.
“Don’t hinder me, seeing that the Lord has sent me, seeing that he’s been good to me. Don’t hinder me.”
Then they said, “Let her make her own decision.” That’s where you stand tonight. Make your own decision.
Then they called Rebekah and said, “Will you go with this man, or do you want to stay around a little while to see whether you really want to do it.”
She said, “I will go.” She was ready. Her decision was quickly made. She knowed there’d Something been leading her.
She knowed something had happened to her. And she knew that It was God, and she was satisfied. She wanted to go quickly.
So she put on her garment. And she got all the gifts that was sent to her by the father to meet the son.
Oh, God, if the Church could only make that decision right quick. Put on all of her gifts, and she climbed up on the camel and took out.
32 And it was in the evening time when Isaac had wandered from the tent out into the fields to meditate. And when he seen the camels coming…
Rebekah looked at him, and then it was love at the first sight. She had to believe it before she went. Faith cometh by hearing. She didn’t know what the man looked like, and it didn’t make no difference. It was God making the decisions.
I don’t care whether He’s big or little, what color He is. That makes me no difference. He’s my Lord. I’ll love Him when I see Him, because He’s God’s gift to me and to you.
59-0611 - The Time Of Decision
Conclusion.
Have you been stirred by the Message? May we be stirred to fly away.
