What you talking bout???
2 Timothy 4:3–5 (NAS)
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,
and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
“It is impossible to righteously govern the world without God and the Bible.” George Washington.
“Within the covers of one single book, the Bible, are all the answers to all the problems that face us today--if only we would read and believe.” Ronald Reagan.
The warning here in out text is that those who do not love and remain in the word. Will turn to deception.
Look at verse 5 but you, remain sober, In the book
God’s Word is Alive.
Hebrews 4:12 NAS
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and espirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
For the Word of God.
Notice the word for Word is the Greek word LOGOS which means Devine expression or thought.
So when you think of LOGOS, think of Divine thought of God. God spoken thought. So the divine expression or thought of God is living and active, or powerful.
You cannot separate one from his thoughts. That‟s why
John 1 says “In the beginning was the Word (thought) and Word was with God and was God.”
We must fall in love with God heart..
The Bible is God breathing his thought.
Many people see the Bible as a fairy tale. They put the story of David and Goliath right up there with the fictional story of Beauty and the Beast. They read it without the revelation, so what they read is just words. 5
But the Bible to me is more than stories. It‟s more than a man in a whale. When I read the Bible I see myself in the pages. I don‟t just see Jonah; I see myself as Jonah trapped in a situation and when I called upon Jesus he delivered me from death.
The word of God is Alive and Powerful.
1 Peter 1:23 NAS
for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.
Peter says you have not been born again by a perishable seed which speaks of works.
The new birth comes through the living and enduring word of God.
The word of God has endured thousands of years.
The problem is that too many people have the word but have unplugged it from its source, which is God.
A door-to-door salesman from a publishing house asked a lady if she owned a copy of the Bible. "I certainly do!" she replied with some pride. To his next question, did she read it regularly, she responded, "Oh, yes!" and sent her little daughter to get the Bible from the table drawer. As she showed it to the man, her spectacles fell from between the pages. Without thinking, she exclaimed, "Oh, here are my glasses! I've been looking for these for 3 years!"
The word of God is active; that means we must activate it. It is living and it brings forth life.
John 6:63 NAS
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
It’s not the seed of flesh or work but the word of God that is spiritual, and life is found in the spirit.
The Word is the expression/thought of God, which not only is living but also brings to life everyone who will receive it.
1. God and his Word are one.
John 1:1 NAS
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
And Jesus is God‟s expression in flesh.
John 1:14 NAS
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus is the exact expression of the essence of God both in truth, grace and life. The written word (the Bible) is the exact expression of God communicating to Man.
2. God‟s Spirit and God‟s Word are one.
God’s Word is truth and his Spirit is truth. That‟s why John 14:26 says:
John 14:26 NAS
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth.” John 16:13
John 16:13 NAS
“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
God’s word brings forth Life. Notice: God‟s word is the source of creation.
Hebrews 11:3 NAS
By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.
Psalm 33:6 NAS
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.
So why is it important for the believe to have a relationship with the Word.
Because

1. The activated word of God produces Faith.

Romans 10:17 NAS
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
So one that preaches the word of God is a Life DELIVERER.
“And how will they hear without a preacher?”
Romans 10:14 NAS
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?
We must believe that God will do what he has promised in his Word.
Faith is the first response of the human soul in its approach to God.
Hebrews 11:6 NAS
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
When our faith changes. Our relationship changes.
The word forms out beliefs, thoughts and even actions.
Its is impossible to have the mind of Christ without reading his word.
To love God is to Love his word
Psalm 119:97 NAS
O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.
Now look what else he says in verses 98-103.
Psalm 119:98–103 NAS
Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, For they are ever mine. I have more insight than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, Because I have observed Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word. I have not turned aside from Your ordinances, For You Yourself have taught me. How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
The word of God is Delicious!!!
And The Word of God brings us into union with God.
So what does the devil want to do?

2. The Word of God brings us into union with God.

John 15:7 NAS
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Notice the reward for abiding in Him and letting His word come in you.

3. The activated word of God has power to heal our bodies.

Psalm 107:17–20 NAS
Fools, because of their rebellious way, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all kinds of food, And they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.
Matthew 8:8 NAS
But the centurion said, “Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

4. The activated word of God will bring understanding to our mind.

The sinner’s mind
Ephesians 4:17–18 NAS
So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;
Renews the mind
Romans 12:2 NAS
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
The activated word gives us Victory over Satan.
Why?
Ephesians 6:17 NAS
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 NAS
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and espirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

5. Assure the believer victor

Revelation 12:11 NAS
“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.
Remember this…
Isaiah 55:11 NAS
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
The word of God is to dwell or make it housed in you.
Colossians 3:16 NAS
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Or let the word of Christ make its house in you. This is the purpose for reading the Bible. For the word that comes forth out of the mouth of God is to make its house in you.
How does this happen 3 ways
1. Reading the book
2. Mediation on the book
3. Speaking the book
Mediation gets the word of God in your heart.
Now the word heart in the Hebrew is the word Leb, which means mind or thoughts. Now remember you cannot separate one from his thoughts.
Proverbs 27:19 NAS
As in water face reflects face, So the heart of man reflects man.
Proverbs 4:23 NAS
Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.
Matthew 15:18 NAS
“But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.
You can always tell the people who lack the word of God in them by the things they say.
Proverbs 18:20–21 NAS
With the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach will be satisfied; He will be satisfied with the product of his lips. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Look at
Romans 10:10 NAS
for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
Your mouth will confess what you believe.
