What does the Bible say about this?
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him.
We see in Revelation that we won’t need the sun anymore. God gives light.
In Him there is no darkness, no sin.
God’s light serves at a beacon as I pray this body of believers called Lighthouse does exactly that and allows the light of God shine through us.
6 If we say, “We have fellowship with him,” and yet we walk in darkness, we are lying and are not practicing the truth.
“If we say”
John may have been indicating that false views needed to be exposed and corrected.
If you are walking in darkness but say that you have fellowship with Him. You must choose NOW which one it is going to be.
7 If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Just in case there is any doubt about who is Light read
12 Jesus spoke to them again: “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
7 If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
If there is no light (Jesus) in your life you can’t see the sin you are in. I can’t tell when my hands are dirty without light.
Sun vs. Son
The sun is a star. The Son created the stars. (According to Genesis 1:16, among others.
The earth orbits the sun. If our lives don’t orbit the Son we will drift into eternal darkness. (Matthew 25:41)
The sun is 93 million miles away. The Son is as close as you want Him to be. (Ephesians 3:17)
The sun is always changing. The Son is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)

Come to the discipleship class, share your faith. Live it by loving others and that love will light up a room, maybe even the world, but definitely a heart.
