The Foundation of Our Faith (10-12)

Salvation wasn’t a secret. God was communicating from the beginning our need for a Savior, and that he had a plan for our salvation.
Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.””
We don’t just have this, we have over 300 verses that talk about God’s plan for a Savior.
Salvation isn’t a new concept, it isn’t a fad; salvation is a promise that God gave us from the moment we screwed up.
We now live in a time of fulfilment for that.
Therefore:
Define the importance of therefore.

The New Life of Faith (13-16)

“Prepare yourself”
warm up, get loose, put on your big boy panties, it’s about to get real.
Fix your hope on God.
Common phrase in Peter , but he defines it further.
The two ways to fix your hope on God.
Don’t be conformed. (14)
If you’re honest, sin feels good. Especially before you were a Christian, sin felt good and was easy to do.
But, putting our hope in God looks like giving up the things that don’t bring us closer to God.
Be Holy (15-16)
Peter doesn’t just tell us to stop doing stuff, we’re supposed to replace our sin with holiness.
Peter tells us to take on the characteristics of God to become holy.
Switch out judging others on IG for reading your Bible, pray for your friends instead of gossiping about them, tell someone Jesus loves them instead of ignoring them in the hallways.
Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Very similar idea. Be transformed from your faith that sucked and your reliance on you to someone who loves God more than you love yourself.
Conclusion.
We don’t do this to be better than anyone else, we do it because God is holy. he calls us to be like Jesus, the One who died for you and calls you into new life.
Questions:
Why is it important that God communicated His plan for salvation so early in the Old Testament?
What does not being conformed to you?
What do you need to let go of in your life, and what can you replace it with?
