Read Devotional: Pg 277, Last Paragraph

Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks to make a fire, all of a sudden the scene turns against him, when, as he was consistent on trying to bless others, the snake comes out to bite him.
The locals said, you may have escaped this time, but vengeance is upon you. Paul had to deal with the comments of People who didn't know Gods purpose and will
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Mark 16:17-18 “Take up serpents”
Jesus Commands us to preach the Gospel and he assures us of his care.
Q:How did Paul preach the gospel to the people at Malta?
A: Paul preached the Gospel to the Prisoners, guards, and the people at Malta by his Godly example when he started a fire to keep them warm. Hospitality can go further than we think. God allowed all Eyes to be on Paul because the sake bite was a miracle by which God would use to reach the people of Malta. Sometimes we have to suffer so that others can be won by our suffering, nevertheless is not that we suffer, but HOW we suffer, because if we are in Christ, nothing can work against us but for us.
Pauls example in trial is an inspiration to those who dont believe in the true God
Command:
It has showed me that preaching is not just in words, but in actions, specially in the most trying times.
The thought of feeling resentful for not being appreciated when you're trying to do good to others
Application:
The snake can bite you, but it cannot kill you. Don’t be discouraged when you are bitten by the devil. He can bite you but he cannot kill you.
In scripture the serpent can be a symbol of satan as well as Jesus.
Numbers 21:8-9 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”
Charge:
Keep doing the right thing despite of what people may say or do. Our character can speak for itself so that we can be a witness of the God whom we serve
Stay calm and let God use you
