Growth Tools Connect

What do you think keeps most people from living on mission for the Kingdom of God?

Study

Point 1: Sent on mission by the King.

READ Jeremiah 1:5–10

1) What do we learn about God from Jeremiah’s calling? How do we often reflect Jeremiah’s excuses in our own lives?

How can we grow bolder in sharing the gospel and making disciples through the calling of Jeremiah?

2) Where is the Lord sending you specifically as an individual or family? Where could the Lord be sending your small group?

Point 2: The mission is dependent on the King.

READ Psalm 127:1, 2; 1 Corinthians 3:4–9

3) What do these passages teach us about how the mission depends on the King? What do these verses teach us about the

human tendency to operate separate from the King? What confidence does the point “the mission is dependent on the King” give you in living out the Kingdom mission?

4) What does 1 Corinthians teach us about looking to strong leaders for mission success? How does the church fall into this trap at times? How does looking to strong or specific leaders hinder us from taking part in the mission?

Point 3: The mission is to bless the nations.

READ Genesis 12:1–4; Galatians 3:7–9; Matthew 28:18–20; Revelation 7:9–11

5) What do these passages reveal it means to “bless the nations”?

6) What does blessing the nations practically look like in word and in deed (come up with many specific examples)?

Pray the passage

Lord we praise you for you are a promise keeper. In Abraham you promised to bring your Son and through Him save all who are lost. It is by your grace alone that we are chosen, called, and sent.

Help us to remember that we are sent by you to bless the nations, but that mission is made successful by your work. Give us obedient hearts. Increase our faith in your work. Give us boldness to live as Kingdom people and to proclaim the Kingdom message.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Memorize & Meditate

“And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying ‘In you shall all the nations be blessed’” (Galatians 3:8).

Preparing for Next Week

Read: Psalm 42

Ask: questions of the text.

Pray: through text, for Rick Evans as he prepares, for your heart to hear, for the congregation to hear, for all of us to be obedient.
