TWO WITNESSES TO THE EARTH DWELLERS

REVELATION 11:1-3; 7-8; 10-12

I.                  PROVISION IS MADE FOR WORSHIP

A.    The TEMPLE will be REBUILT!

11:1 . . . and someone said, “Get up and measure the temple of God and the altar, and those who worship in it

1.      DANIEL said there would be a literal Temple

Daniel 9:27 And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate . . .

2.      JESUS believed there would be a literal Temple

Mt 24:15 Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand) 16 then those are in Judea must flee to the mountains . . .

3.      PAUL believed there would be a literal Temple

2 Thess 2:3 . . . and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so called god or object of worship so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God

B.     The TREATY will be REVOKED!

11:2 Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under-foot the holy city for forty-two months!

C.    The TRUTH will be REVEALED!

11:3 And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days . . .

II.               PERSECUTION IS MADE OF WITNESSES

A.    Their MESSAGE will be AUTHENTIC!

11:3 And I will grant authority to My two witnesses . . .

B.     Their MINISTRY will be ANOINTED!

11:4 These are the two olive trees and the two lamp-stands that stand before the Lord of the earth

C.    Their MARTYRDOM will be APPOINTED!

11:7 When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them and overcome them and kill them . . .

1.      The RESURRECTION will be MIRACULOUS!

11:11 . . . But after three and a half days, the breath of life from God came into them and they stood on their feet and great fear fell upon those who were watching them!

2.      The RAPTURE will be MARVELOUS!

11:12 . . . And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “COME UP HERE.” Then they went up into heaven in the cloud and their enemies watched them!

3.      The RESPONSE will be MYSTERIOUS!

11:13 And in that hour there was a great earthquake and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake AND the REST were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven! 14 The second woe is past; behold, the third woe is coming quickly!

*I remember the time and place when I was born again by grace through faith. I have been baptized AFTER I was born again by grace through faith!

*Today I choose to be born again by grace through faith.

*I need to be baptized and today I choose to become accountable for being baptized!
