When will we Learn to Trust him Notes James 4:13-17
The scriptures give many virtues of a true Christian- love for God, repentance from sin, humility- but none is greater than a desire to do God’s will. Psa. 40:8; Psa. 143:10; Matt. 7:21. The Lord Jesus perfectly modeled the most essential of a relationship with God- obedience to God.
Eph. 6:6- doing to will of God from the heart.
The first negative response to God’s will is foolishly ignoring it, living as if God did not exist or was indifferent to and benign toward human behavior
Luke 12:16-21- leaving God out of our business dealings.
The Bible stresses the shortness of our lives- it’s just a vapor. It’s compared to a puff of steam from a cup of coffee. Job says our days are swifter than a weavers shuttle (beam).
4:17- Sin is denying God’s will
