Introduction:
Tonight we as a congregation are expressing our consent and approval of JOSH MILLERS claim to be led by God into the ministry of the Word. We sense God's leading in his life and solemnly set him apart for the fulfillment of this calling. So I want us to ponder for a few minutes the significance of the ministry of the Word, as it was so clearly expressed in the life of Jesus.
Decorative Towels / we have these in our kitchen but let them never be found in your study
John 13:1–7 (AV)
Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him; Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

It is hard to make a modern day leadership book from the Life of Christ.
It is hard to make a modern day leadership book from the Life of Christ.
When He gathers a large crowd he goes to a secluded place.
When He thinks about all the Father has given to Him He does goes low and takes on the role of a servant.
We are His children and have the high calling to teach His word.
Jesus has the highest rank possible but takes on the lowest form of being a servant.
Many countries have servants who will not do what other servants will do. They leave they type of service to the lowest of the serving class.
“Christians of high standing should give themselves gladly to lowly serving.”
Setting out a pitcher for everyone would have been sufficient.

Jesus could have said these men can wash their own feet I have given them all they need.
Jesus washes each of their feet.
There was a lesson for each of them to learn that would only come from them watching Jesus serve in this manner.
Jesus was teaching a lesson that was far bigger than those listening could understand on that day.

John 13:7 (AV)
Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
Jesus takes the time and explains so much wonderful, doctrinal truth to Peter.
It was not behind a pulpit but at a water basin that Jesus will teach Peter what he knows that will allow himself to preach on the day of the Pentecost. - “I am clean I just need confess my faults unto the Lord and move forward.”

John 13:15 (AV)
For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
Do we believe we are of greater importance than our master?
Do we believe we are of greater importance than our master?
John 13:16 (AV)
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
Know that your teaching ministry cannot be Christ-like if you do not often find yourself holding the basin for those you are called to teach.
