Matthew 27:1–2 KJV 1900
When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Introduction: In our bible setting, we find the Jewish elders plotting to have Jesus put to death.
The scripture tell us that they bound Him.
Even though this was an unnecessary act, we find that men and women, Christians are still tying the hand of God today.
We find that part of the incarnation or the supernatural birth of Christ is contain within these scriptures.
That God Himself would allow Himself to become subject to the constraints of men.
How in the world can God who is unlimited, limit Himself, and become weak.
The Answer:
He allows mankind to be able to cut off his unlimited supplies.
God in his weakness is still more powerful than and man or created being.
God allows me to carryout the schemes against to no avail.
How Do Men Tie The Hands Of God?
Unbelief
When Jesus preached in the synagogue of his hometown of Nazareth, the bible says He could not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.
Matthew 13:58 KJV 1900
And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
What constituted their unbelief?
Matthew 13:54 KJV 1900
And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
Matthew 13:55 KJV 1900
Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
Matthew 13:56 KJV 1900
And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
Their unbelief is revealed in their carnal reasoning of their natural minds.
Romans 8:7 KJV 1900
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
When ever the natural mind takes over, God’s hands are tied all over again.
Do not allow yourself to become critical of those who tie Gods hand in the gospel, why?
Because we have tied God’s hands also, and more times than you realize.
God could not do many mighty works then, nor can he do them now unless we began to get rid of the old way of thinking.
Then allow God’s promise to become your thought process.
Psalm 1:1–2 KJV 1900
Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; And in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Why?
God has replaced the carnal mind with its thinking with the mind of God.
Philippians 2:5 KJV 1900
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Matthew 6:34 KJV 1900
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Because the natural eyes, being bound by the natural mind, was blinded to His true ability and idenity.
And it’s the same way today....
They could have been healed, their lives could have be changed forever.
They could have being free, rich, delivered from every vince sin and darkness, healed set from.
But they chose to bind the hands of God.
The lost was not so much His, it was theirs.
What’s stopping God from blessing you this morning?
What is it you desire that He cannot perform?
Is He only the carpenter’s son to you, or is He God.
