World Vision Marathon Illustration
When I hear the word “Go” I think of a race. Actually I think of the Marathon that our people are running today for World Vision.
And Can I just tell you how hard it must have been to train for this race today.
If you have some of these guys as friends on facebook, you’ve probably seen some of the things they have been doing to prepare for this race.
On Saturday’s they would get in groups and run trying to keep a certain pace.
Change of diet for a healthy body
Maybe Strength training
There’s a lot that has to be done just to prepare to hear a small two-letter word… “GO!”
And when that word sounds off, all the training, the changes, the preparations count for that moment.
as we think about the word “go” we need to be asking ourselves,

Where am I hearing the word “GO” in my life?

Transition to Bible

We have been looking at the situations of Israel and Moses In Exodus for this series and I would love for our attention to be placed on Chapter 12 today.
CONTEXT
God has been distributing the plagues upon Egypt because Pharoah would not allow Israel to be set free and so that His power might be revealed to Israel so that they know that God was the one true God. Finally God was going to execute the last plague involving taking the life of every firstborn in the land of Egypt. This plague would lead to pharoah finally giving up and letting Israel leave the bondage of Egypt.
So in chapter 12, God commands Moses and Aaron to tell Israel to make preparations for a feast. This would be what we call now the Passover. God commanded specific requirements that included the preparation of meat from sheep or goats, and He required that the Israelites eat only unleavened bread for seven days. The final command was to kill the Passover lamb, the best of the flock, and collect the blood so the Israelites can paint the blood over their door posts so that God would pass over them.
He gave all of these instructions and finally Moses told them this, we are now in verse 25
Exodus 12:24–28 (ESV)
You shall observe this rite as a statute for you and for your sons forever. And when you come to the land that the Lord will give you, as he has promised, you shall keep this service. And when your children say to you, ‘What do you mean by this service?’ you shall say, ‘It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s Passover, for he passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt, when he struck the Egyptians but spared our houses.’ ” And the people bowed their heads and worshiped.
Then the people of Israel went and did so; as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
It was through Moses that God commanded Israel to do all of these things and see how they responded in verse 27-28?
They bowed their heads and worshiped, Then the people of Israel went and did so; as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

Transition to Points

There are a couple of things that we can pick up on from this passage

1. We Go by Worship

Faith in God’s promises stimulates worship.
True Faith in God does not just settle with belief, but it seeks to worship God.
God promised to deliver the Israelites from the Egyptians and the Israelites responded in belief through worship.
Worship isn’t just the act of bowing, lifting hands, and singing songs.
Faith produced worship is the act of obedience to God’s will.
The Israelites went and did everything they were told to do because they trusted that God was faithful to His Word.
To obey God is to follow His commandments and the two most important that Jesus gave us from the 10 is to Love the Lord God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
My question to all of us is How are we obeying God outside of Sunday Morning?
You’ve obeyed the Lord by gathering here to be fed and to learn about His Word, but then how does a day like this cause you to obey Him and worship Him Monday through Saturday
How do we Worship God with the way we act at work?
at school?
in front of our friends?
in front of our families?
The truth of the matter is, our lives communicate what we value. So does your life communicate that you value God’s Word or does it communicate that you value the world?
We must be aware that part of our go is our worship.
I heard a preacher say:
The more we know about God, the higher our worship can become,.
But we can claim to know a lot about God and claim to have the most accurate theology compared to any denomination, but when our lives paint a different picture, then we really don’t know anything about God.
We Go by Worship, and our worship is a service to God

2. We Go by Service

Turn with me to John chapter 13
We are at Passover again, but this time God the Son is now present with His people.
The preparations have been made the same as they had been made in Exodus, but this time it was as a sign of remembrance to God delivering Israel from the bondage of slavery held by Egypt.
In this passage Jesus ties a towel around his waist, pours water into a basin, and washes the disciples feet.
The Deliverer now becomes the servant.
And He requires this of us...
Hear the Words of our Lord Jesus in verse 13
John 13:12–17 (ESV)
When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
