Where does this saying come from? The absence of a loving God in the Universe. If God doesn’t really care, then God may be a myth. It all stems from believing God is like us, human.
God does not suffer from amnesia
Have you ever felt as if God has forgotten you or did not really care about what you were going through at that time? If so, what was happening?
We tend to think God is limited to our own abilities. If we forget, then He also forgets. If we are weak, then He is also week. But luckily He is God and we are not. He is not limited to anything. And there are 4 characteristics that God has, that will help us not to fall in this lie, “God doesn’t really care.”
Characteristics of God.
1. God is Omnipotent.
1. God is Omnipotent.
God is all powerful. Nothing is impossible that God can’t do. Matthew 19:26 Isaiah 40:28
2. God is Omnipresent.
2. God is Omnipresent.
God is all-present. He is always with you. He is the best finder in hide-n-seek. Psalm 139:7-8
3. God is Omnibenevolent.
3. God is Omnibenevolent.
God is all-loving. He loves perfectly and is completely full of love. 1 John 4:8
He doesn’t need a relationship with us for Him to be fulfilled, though. We need Him to be fulfilled, complete. And God extends this love through His Son, Jesus.
4. God is Omniscient.
4. God is Omniscient.
He is all-knowing. There is nothing that He doesn’t know, and there is nothing that someone can teach Him. 1 John 4:8
Nothing He has to be reminded about, because God never forgets. He doesnt have amnesia and forget, He never forgets. He knows everything, past, present, and future.
2. What were the 4 Characteristics of God that were discussed?
3. Which one resonated with you the most?
4. How can you incorporate that truth in your life?
These attributes tell us one thing: He does not need us. But He still wants us. And we know this by what Jesus did on the cross for us. Some people say that we are just a “cosmic accident” and have no value. But yet Galatians paints a different picture. Galatians 4:4-7 .“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.” What a beautiful reminder of the truth that God really does care and He wants you.
5. Read Galatians 4:4-7. What words or phrases stood out to you the most?
6. How does it make you feel that God chose to adopt you as His child?
God sending Himself is proof that He remembers you.
God sending Himself is proof that He remembers you.
God gave us the best and perfect gift - Himself! The truth behind the incarnation of Jesus, God coming down and dwelling with us, should influence the way we live. We need to be reminded this not every holiday but every day! Matthew 28:20. You are not forgotten, He is always with you. You are remembered. This can be trusted. How can this be trusted?
God always keeps His promises.
God always keeps His promises.
There are over 300 promises in the Old Testament, about there being a coming Messiah. (Rescuer, savior, deliverer). Jesus fulfilled every single one of them. Psalm 136:23.
God has come and is coming again.
God has come and is coming again.
God first kept His promise on coming, He is trustworthy. Therefore, we can also take him at His promise that He will come again!
The presence of God brings a presence of peace.
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.””
We can take God at His promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Whatever we are going through, death, depression, anxiety, loneliness, God is with us in that time.
TRUTH: God has not forgotten you. He remembers you. He is with you.
