When What You Have Is Not Enough (3)

The Disciples are Befuddled as to Why they couldn’t cast out the demon.

They waited until they got in a private place before they ask Jesus why they could cast out the demon.

Also, Jesus had given the disciples full authority over demons as long ago as in Matthew 10:8. By now they should be performing exorcisms with great confidence.

Its tough to face the reality that as hard as you were trying, nothing seems to work.

The results is, that you start to dough yourself and your ability to function.

The Event that caused the private Conversation

Jesus, had taken Peter, James and John with Him up the mountain where Jesus was transformed, His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light, while talking with Moses and Elijah.

They came down the mountain to an argument, Luke says between the scribs and the 9 remaining disciples that didn’t go up the mountain with Jesus, a crowd of people and a father with a demon processed son.

Mark chapter 9 tells us that this son had been processed sense he was a child.

This man had hell in his house for a long time and wanted to get it out.

This father did all he knew to do, and then brought his son to the church where he understood could help.

They couldn’t cast this demon out because they had yet to become Mountain Movers

They were faced with a mountain situation.

In order to over come a mountain, you must be a mountain mover.

What they had was not enough, but the good news is, what they needed was available.
