Wait on God’s Leading (1-6)

Wait for His direction - “you have not passed this way before.” (v 4)
We tend to get into trouble when we think we have things figured out! The God of Wonders works when we wait upon His leading!
Wait by spending time seeking Him.
Wait expectantly! - “The Lord will do wonders among you.” (v 5)
Consecrate yourselves - be dedicated unto the Lord, holy for His Use.
They were to watch and wait for the moving of the Ark. We are called to watch and wait for the return of the Lord Jesus. Matthew 24:42 “Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”

Walk Forward by Faith

When God said to move, they were to move forward in faith.
Faith moves upon God’s direction and stand still at God’s command.
Just as they were told to stand still at the Red Sea, so the priests were told to stand still in the midst of the Jordan (v8 -13) Exodus 14:13 “13 And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.”
It was the presence of God that held the flood water at bay!
When God said to move, they were to move forward in faith that He was at work.
What has God told you to do in faith that He will work? What area of need has He laid upon your heart?

Memorialize God’s Work and Wonders

Take time to worship and memorialize the work of God in your life.
We tend to memorialize human achievement. God’s people are told to chronicle and record what He has done in their lives for future generations.
It can be as simple as writing in your Bible the answers to prayers He as given.
Josh 4:21-24 “21 And he said to the people of Israel, “When your children ask their fathers in times to come, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 then you shall let your children know, ‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.’ 23 For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we passed over, 24 so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”
