God's children either proclaim or profane his name. Worship and proclaiming his name starts with the proper recognition of it.

Introduction
Today we will be visiting Solomons prayer after building the temple. There is so much to be found within this text which could be beneficial for today. For a few minutes today I encourage to go with me as we experience the heart of this leader and his passion to honor God who has blessed his family for years. Our thought for today is do we proclaim or profane God’s name. Solomon is leading us into a deeper experience with God as he experiences him and we walk along with him.
Profane from Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary
PROFANE To treat that which is holy as common. Profane often approximates defile in meaning. See Clean, Cleanness; Holy.
To me it all starts with the name as the hebrew understanding of it.
The Hebrew word shem means “name,” and it is the word used to designate the proper name for something or someone. Its most famous and sacred designation was to refer to Israel’s God, “the Lord”—Yahweh. There was power, reputation, and respect attached to God’s Name. To merely refer to “the Name” was a clear reference to the proper Name of Israel’s God.
Carpenter, E. E., & Comfort, P. W. (2000). In Holman treasury of key Bible words: 200 Greek and 200 Hebrew words defined and explained (p. 130). Nashville, TN: Broadman & Holman Publishers.
In Biblical Hebrew, to trust in Someone’s SHEM means to trust Him because of Who He is. To bless Someone’s SHEM means to bless Him because of Who He is.
It’s pronounced like our Word shame but is the exactly opposite.
His purpose to glorify God
His position above the people setting the stage as a leader
Christian Standard Bible (Chapter 6)
13 For Solomon had made a bronze platform 7½ feet long, 7½ feet wide, and 4½ feet high and put it in the court. He stood on it, knelt down in front of the entire congregation of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven. 14 He said:
His posture

II. The posture in which he prayed was very reverent, and expressive of humility, seriousness, and fervency in prayer. He stood before the altar of the Lord, intimating that he expected the success of his prayer in virtue of that sacrifice which should be offered up in the fulness of time, typified by the sacrifices offered at that altar. But when he addressed himself to prayer, 1. He kneeled down, as appears, v. 54, where he is said to rise from his knees; compare 2 Chr. 6:13. Kneeling is the most proper posture for prayer,

Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible (Chapter 8)
which breathes sentiments of the loftiest piety blended with the deepest humility, naturally bore a reference to the national blessing and curse contained in the law—and the burden of it—after an ascription of praise to the Lord for the bestowment of the former, was an earnest supplication for deliverance from the latter. He specifies seven cases in which the merciful interposition of God would be required; and he earnestly bespeaks it on the condition of people praying towards that holy place. The blessing addressed to the people at the close is substantially a brief recapitulation of the preceding
Christian Standard Bible (Chapter 8)
22 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the entire congregation of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven. 23 He said:LORD God of Israel,there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below,who keeps the gracious covenant with your servants who walk before youwith all their heart.24 You have kept what you promised to your servant, my father David.You spoke directly to him and you fulfilled your promise by your power as it is today.25 Therefore, LORD God of Israel,keep what you promised to your servant, my father David:You will never fail to have a man-to sit before me on the throne of Israel,if only your sons take care to walk before me as you have walked before me.26 Now LORD God of Israel,please confirm what you promised to your servant, my father David.27 But will God indeed live on earth?Even heaven, the highest heaven, cannot contain you,much less this temple I have built.28 Listen to your servant’s prayer and his petition,LORD my God,so that you may hear the cry and the prayer that your servant prays before you today,29 so that your eyes may watch over this temple night and day,toward the place where you said,“My name will be there,”and so that you may hear the prayer that your servant prays toward this place.30 Hear the petition of your servant and your people Israel,which they pray toward this place.May you hear in your dwelling place in heaven.May you hear and forgive.31 When a man sins against his neighbor and is forced to take an oath,,and he comes to take an oath before your altar in this temple,32 may you hear in heaven and act.May you judge your servants,condemning the wicked man by bringing what he has done on his own head band providing justice for the righteous by rewarding him according to his righteousness.33 When your people Israel are defeated before an enemy,because they have sinned against you,and they return to you and praise your name,and they pray and plead with youfor mercy in this temple,34 may you hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel.May you restore them to the land you gave their ancestors.35 When the skies are shut and there is no rain,because they have sinned against you,and they pray toward this place and praise your name,and they turn from their sins because you are afflicting them,36 may you hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your servants and your people Israel,so that you may teach them to walk on the good way.May you send rain on your land that you gave your people for an inheritance.37 When there is famine in the land,when there is pestilence,when there is blight or mildew, locust or grasshopper,when their enemy besieges themin the land and its cities,when there is any plague or illness,38 every prayer or petition that any person or that all your people Israel may have—they each know their own affliction—,as they spread out their hands toward this temple,39 may you hear in heaven, your dwelling place,and may you forgive, act, and give to everyone according to all their ways, since you know each heart,for you alone know every human heart,40 so that they may fear you all the days they live on the land you gave our ancestors.41 Even for the foreigner who is not of your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your name—42 for they will hear of your great name,strong hand, and outstretched arm,and will come and pray toward this temple—43 may you hear in heaven, your dwelling place,and do according to all the foreigner asks.Then all peoples of earth will know your name,to fear you as your people Israel do and to know that this temple I have built bears your name.44 When your people go out to fight against their enemies,wherever you send them,and they pray to the Lord in the direction of the city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your name,45 may you hear their prayer and petition in heaven and uphold their cause.46 When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you are angry with them and hand them over to the enemy,and their captors deport them to the enemy’s country—whether distant or nearby—47 and when they come to their senses in the land where they were deported and repent and petition you in their captors’ land:“We have sinned and done wrong;we have been wicked,”48 and when they return to you with all their heart and all their soul in the land of their enemies who took them captive,and when they pray to you in the direction of their land that you gave their ancestors,the city you have chosen,and the temple I have built for your name,49 may you hear in heaven, your dwelling place,their prayer and petition and uphold their cause.50 May you forgive your people who sinned against youand all their rebellions against you,and may you grant them compassion before their captors,so that they may treat them compassionately.51 For they are your people and your inheritance;you brought them out of Egypt,out of the middle of an iron furnace.52 May your eyes be open to your servant’s petition and to the petition of your people Israel,listening to them whenever they call to you.53 For you, Lord GOD, have set them apart as your inheritance from all peoples of the earth,as you spoke through your servant Moses when you brought our ancestors out of Egypt.
Systematic Theology § 3. Preface to the Ten Commandments

“I am Jehovah thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

Christian Standard Bible (Chapter 5)
6 Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for God’s wrath is coming on the disobedient because of these things. 7 Therefore, do not become their partners. 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light—9 for the fruit of the light consists of all goodness, righteousness, and truth—10 testing what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what is done by them in secret. 13 Everything exposed by the light is made visible, 14 for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said:Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead,and Christ will shine on you.
Proclaiming his Shem

1 LORD, our Lord,

how magnificent is your name throughout the earth!

You have covered the heavens with your majesty.,

2 From the mouths of infants and nursing babies,

you have established a stronghold

on account of your adversaries

in order to silence the enemy and the avenger.

9 LORD, our Lord,

how magnificent is your name throughout the earth!

1 I will thank the LORD with all my heart;

I will declare all your wondrous works.

2 I will rejoice and boast about you;

I will sing about your name, Most High.

10 Those who know your name trust in you

because you have not abandoned

those who seek you, LORD.

Profaning his Shem

15 When you spread out your hands in prayer,

I will refuse to look at you;

even if you offer countless prayers,

I will not listen.

Your hands are covered with blood.
