Notes on the title: Could be intended for the dedication of the Temple (literally means “the house”). If so this is said in faith of what is to come.
Could be in dedication of his own house (a house of cedar) if so it is in praise from where God had brought him from.

Praise for God’s Deliverance (1-3)

David remembered God’s past answers to his prayer. Like a bucket being drawn up from a well.
God heard his cry and granted him healing. He raised him from the brink of the grave.

Praise for God’s Discipline (4-7)

An invitation to join in praise to God’s holy name.
His discipline is for our benefit.
Heb 12:11 “11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
One of the most dangerous places for us spiritually is a place of success, because we can take credit in pride! We stand only by the Lord’s mercy and grace!

Praise for God’s Faithfulness (8-12)

God in his faithfulness turns our mourning to joy!
