Psalm 42
Our Sadness
This generally comes from some change and/or anxiety about the future.
There’s a realization that this has something to do with God (vs7).
The world will take the opportunity to kick you while you are down (vs3, 10).
This can lead to a hopelessness- sadness taking control.
Our Hope
Circumstances do not give or take hope, but they reveal where it has been.
The solution is to hope in God alone (vs5).
Jesus is the certainty we need with all the changes and “what ifs”.
In Jesus, we have a hope that is bigger than any circumstance.
Our Praise
When we truly remember God, we can’t help but praise Him.
Our rejoicing in God is not based on circumstances.
(Habakkuk 3:17-19).
No matter what else is happening, He is still God and therefore worthy of praise.
Our purpose is praise, and it will be our reality as we look to Him.
