Go Series Part 7: Fire in Our Soul Spencer Rogers, Jr. Big Idea: God has called us to the local and worldwide work of His kingdom. We must carry the fire of the Holy Spirit in our souls to accomplish the work of the kingdom ahead of us. Acts 1:3-8 NIV 1. Revelation. (3) • Jesus revealed himself and his kingdom to his disciples; and he continues to reveal himself to people around us locally, and to people all over the world. 2. Power. (4-5) • Jesus commanded his disciples to wait to receive the gift the Father promised. Compare scripture: 2. Power. (4-5) cont. John 14:16-18 NIV 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him 2. (4-5) • We have been given the same gift promised by the Father, the Holy Spirit. 3. Focus. (6-7) • Jesus had to redirect the disciple’s preconceived idea of the kingdom, to the truth of what his focus of kingdom work involved. 3. Focus. (6-7) cont. • Jesus is redirecting our focus to join HIM in what HE is doing in HIS kingdom, rather than us continuing in our preconceived ideas about the kingdom. 4. Witness. (8) • Jesus focused his disciple’s attention and energy in receiving the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish the kingdom mission he assigned them. 4. Witness. (8) • Jesus also focuses our attention to accomplish the kingdom mission he has assigned to us today. In order to be his witnesses in our local area, 4. Witness.
