Romans 1:16 NKJV
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

THE PRIDE

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.…” Note the words of Christ on being “ashamed” in Mark 8:34–38.
Mark 8:34–38 NKJV
34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
this is still a requirement today
Dedication—v. 35. Giving our lives to Christ may appear to be losing our lives. However, expending our lives in selfish plans and desires means we are losing our lives.
Damnation—vv. 36–37. Gaining all the world but losing our soul. Some exchange pleasures for their souls.
what will it profit a man?
Destruction—v. 38. If we are ashamed of Christ on earth, He will be ashamed of us in heaven.
That means, we cannot enter into heaven.

THE POWER

“… For it is the power of God.…”
Power to saveRom. 10:13. It can save all people who call upon Him. He will refuse none (John 6:37).
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
John 6:37 NKJV
37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
Power to sustain1 Peter 1:5. He is able to keep us. All His power is available for us to live for Him. Compare with Jude 24.
Jude 24 NKJV
24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
Power to satisfyJohn 14:27. There is peace which comes through salvation. Note there is peace of mind (Phil. 4:7). This means there is no need to worry.
John 14:27 NKJV
27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Only the gospel can offer us these three. No doctor or other man can offer us these.

THE PARDON

“… Unto salvation.…”
Purpose of salvation—John 3:16. Everlasting life.
Man need not face separation from God.
You may have eternal life.
Plan of salvation. Threefold plan:
(1) Recognize (Rom. 3:23);
(2) Repent (Luke 13:3);
(3) Receive (John 1:12).
Power of salvation—2 Cor. 5:17. Only salvation can boast of changing man completely!
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

THE PEOPLE

“… To every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.…”
Seeing faith—Rom. 10:17. We see Christ when we hear Scripture.
Seeing this will cause us to believe.
Scriptural faith—Heb. 11:1. Faith believes before it sees.
Salvation faith—John 5:24.
John 5:24 NKJV
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
Note that simple faith in Him causes us to pass from death to life.
By accepting Christ, we need not face the white throne judgment (Rev. 20:11–15).
Revelation 20:11–15 NKJV
11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
This gospel is the power of God unto salvation
If you have received salvation, your name is written in the Book of Life!
