1 Chronicles 28:9–10 KJV 1900
9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. 10 Take heed now; for the Lord hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
1 Chronicles 28:9–10 (NLT)
9 “And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. 10 So take this seriously. The Lord has chosen you to build a Temple as his sanctuary. Be strong, and do the work.”

Solomon purposed to know God in an intimate way.

God spoke to him in a dream asking, “What shall I give thee?”

1 Kings 3:5 KJV 1900
5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
He didn’t ask for riches and wealth, but rather knowledge and wisdom!
Because of this we realize that God answered that prayer!
1 Kings 3:11–12 KJV 1900
11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
Solomon was truly searching to Know God in an intimate way!

When Solomon finished building the Temple we can clearly see this desire in his heart through the prayer that he prayed and I want you to take notice how God responded to Solomon!

1 Chronicles 7:1–3 KJV 1900
1 Now the sons of Issachar were, Tola, and Puah, Jashub, and Shimron, four. 2 And the sons of Tola; Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Jibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their father’s house, to wit, of Tola: they were valiant men of might in their generations; whose number was in the days of David two and twenty thousand and six hundred. 3 And the sons of Uzzi; Izrahiah: and the sons of Izrahiah; Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, Ishiah, five: all of them chief men.
When the people of God seek after God without reservation God ALWAYS responds!
How will you seek after God?
How do you want God to respond to you?
Jeremiah 29:11–13 KJV 1900
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
