James 4:17 KJV 1900
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
First level of good: Know God through study of his Word
2. Talk to God - Prayer
You talk to God because you have taken the time to get to know him.
I am absolutely convinced that people don’t pray because they have never taken the time to get to know Him!
The only way to know Him is to know His Word!
Our brains do not have the computing process to understand God…
Isaiah 55:7–9 KJV 1900
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts: And let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; And to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways, And my thoughts than your thoughts.
Thoughts of God come from meditating on His word!
Psalm 119:97 KJV 1900
97 MEM. O how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day.
Your thoughts tell you everything you need to know about who you are!
You have to arrest your inappropriate thoughts.
2 Corinthians 10:3–5 (KJV 1900)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Imaginations: reasoning
High things: wars against the knowledge (thinking) of God
Captive every thought: take my thoughts against the knowledge of God as a prisoner of war
Obedience: state of compliance
JUST STOP THE NEGATIVE,HATEFUL, REVENGEFUL, LUSTFUL THOUGHTS!
This is the first level of good!
Make your thoughts POW’s!
Philippians 4:8 (KJV 1900)
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Demand better of your thoughts!
Leave service and be intensional about meditating on what you have heard.
Think about what you have read that day from the Word.
Know God’s people - Come to church, fellowship
To know God is to love His people!
Hebrews 10:25 NLT
25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Closer we get the the rapture, the more important church is
You can not be saved without regular church attendance
Honor God and God’s people
Blessing of God - financial stewardship
Leviticus 27:30 KJV 1900
30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord.
When you honor God, God honors you
Tithe = 10% - Obedience
Offering = 5% - Love
Special offerings = as needed - Trust
1 Corinthians 16:2 KJV 1900
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
Every principle in the OT is increased in the NT
Jews were instructed to give 20% of their income in the OT, how much do you give?
You are your brothers keeper
Fellowship
Fellow: pertaining to an individual
Ship: not the nautical word rather expresses a common link between (in this case) the fellow.
To ship something is to place something in a container and send it to it’s destination.
Fellowship is not what we do after service. Not what we do at the restirouaunt etc.
Fellowship is the placing of something good in a vessel and sending it to its place of fulfillment.
So, when we come together in fellowship, I am putting something in you and you are putting something in me and we are sending each other on our way to fulfilment.
