Play Kids Video Peter healed beggar
Peter was a different man at this point in his journey.
The beggar wanted money but Peter gave him what he really wanted.
What I here today for us is that we want many things from a place of not being able to see or know.
The questions we ask reveal what we know and dont know.
There are often veils or clouds around our lives that keep us from being fully alive.
There is often deception that keeps us asking questions that are not really what we are looking for.
Like the beggar we ask for money because a could of deception remains. That cloud keeps the beggar from knowing who Jesus is and what He can do.
This reality is true for us too.
We have clouds and veils around what we really need.
These veils keep us from knowing our root problems.
These veils keep us from seeing ourselves and others for who we truly are.
When we cant see clearly, we blame all sorts of surface things that are not the real problem.
We blame God for not coming through for us.
We blame ourselves for not being enough.
We blame any kind of leader in our lives who did not protect us or save us.
We blame life itself.
Veil, Cloud, Deception, not able to see...
The Veil = We settle into that we can’t do anything about where we are.
This settling is what make the veil and cloud stick.
Once we arrive at the false belief the veil remains.
If we knew what the root problem was we would ask for that to be healed.
If we knew what was possible through Jesus we would not be asking for such small things.
If we really knew Jesus we might not be asking any of the questions we normally ask.
How does the veil get removed in our lives?
16 but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
The veil is only taken away when we see Jesus.
The deception in your life is only taken aways when you see Jesus.
Deception is not taken away when you finally find the enemy.
We are so busy using your eyes to find out who the bad guys is or the wrong way.
Our eyes are occupied with looking in so many wrong directions.
Take your eyes off of finding who to blame, finding the bad guy, finding what is wrong..
Turn your eyes to Jesus.
Find Jesus in your every day.
Find Him in what He has done.
Find Him when you sense that peace.
Find Him in the most frustrating part of your day.
When you are being tempted again, look for Him.
Jesus is saying “Look At Me”
8 A king who sits on the throne of justice
Disperses all evil with his eyes.
The veil was torn at the temple when Jesus was killed on the cross.
Jesus love for us is what tears the veil.
Summary:
We need to stop looking our problems so much.
We need to turn and look to Jesus and those places that are hidden will be uncovered.
After they are uncovered the light will shine and His healing will come.
Then His power will transform us in ways we never even thought was possible.
Turn to Jesus and look for Him. Then the veil, cloud, and deception of your life will be ripped away.
Jesus is saying “Look At Me”
Today’s Activation:
What problem am I currently trying to fix that I need to turn my eyes away from?
Turn to Jesus. How are you going to turn to Jesus today?
Remind yourself of all the times you have seen Jesus this year.
Other resources:
12 The hearing ear and the seeing eye,
The Lord has made both of them.
13 Do not love sleep, or you will become poor;
Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with food.
14 But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ.
15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart;
16 but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
1 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
