This Day

Luke 4:18–21 KJV 1900

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Two rednecks sitting of the porch talking. They were the best of friends and had been for all their lives. One said to The other, I know we are friends but just how gooda friend are you?

Other said man you know there is nothing that I wouldn’t do for you!

First: If you have a million dollars would you give me half of it?

Second: For sure! If I had a million dollars I would give you half of it!

First: If you have 100 head of cows, would you give me half of them?

Second: Absolutely, if I had 100 head of cows I would give you 50 of them!

First: If you had two hogs, would you give me one of them?

It is easy to give away something you don’t have in the moment!

Our faith seems to work the same way…

It is easy to talk about what God had done.

It is easy to talk about what God will do!

BUT its really hard to acknowledge what God is doing this day!

In our text Jesus picks up the scroll handed to him and begins to read about an incredible time which:

Healing would come to broken hearts

Captives would be delivered

Blinded eyes would be healed

The bruised would be liberated

The year of the Lord declared

And oh ya… It’s today!

Today’s the day!

It is done! Fulfilled!

And they rolled their eyes and said, Did you hear what Josephs boy said!

It is easy to doubt when the time comes!

My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear. So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

Noahiah began to release a spirit of fear

Noadiah = appointment with Jehovah!

False prophetess with an appointment with God!

Conclusion:
