 Being a True Christian

 Family Relationship

 Belonging to God

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. (1 John 5:1, NIV)

 Inner conviction

Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. (1 John 5:10, NIV)

 Possessing Christ

He who has the Son has life. (1 John 5:12, NIV)

Mental Connections:

Victory through possessing Christ  ----  You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4, NIV)

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12, NIV)

 Obedient Love

 Love follows faith

True faith always leads to love for God and others, …

… and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. (1 John 5:1, NIV)

 Obedience follows love

This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. (1 John 5:2, NIV)

… and true love always results in obedience.

 Circularity of love

Whoever loves God must also love his brother. (1 John 4:21, NIV)

… and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. (1 John 5:1, NIV)

 Victorious Faith

 Overcoming the world

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4, NIV)

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57, NIV)

"…In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33, NIV)

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1 John 4:4, NIV)

Mental Connections:

Victory through possessing Christ  ----  He who has the Son has life. (1 John 5:12, NIV)

 This is the Key Component

Summary of Mental Connections in map:
