Start a new sermon series: What will the neighbors think? (Elaborate on this)
Title of today’s message is: Rethinking Reaching People
Like many churches Church on The Hill has come out of lock down (barley) and we are seeking God on what future ministry is going to look like and how are we going to get back to business.
What business is the church in?
What is the Mission and Vision of Church on The Hill?
The same mission and vision every bible believing, Christ centered church should have.
The great commission.
We want get back to work reaching people that don’t know the Lord yet.
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Summed up: Lead people to Jesus and teach them how to follow Him.
Go: Which is a word of movement. This is a action word.
Make disciples: Lead ppl to Jesus.
The Christianese word for leading people to Jesus is evangelism.
The Def. of evangelism: the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness.
What is the gospel? Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He was raised again on the third day.
As a Christian, what comes to your mind when I say the word evangelism?
What feelings stir up inside of you about this word?
Is it shame, guilt, anxiety. Many of us have had Pastor encourage us/shame us to do more.
Maybe we think of times we have been asked to go door to door. - Have you ever hidden when a religious group knocks on your door?
My dream for our church is that we will be known as a evangelistic church. God willing a church that leads thousand to the lover of their soul. - Jesus
Evangelism is a scary word to most Christians. But it does not have to be.
Cognitive behavioral technique called reframing. It is coming up with a different interpretation of an event or experience. It is a technique that helps you to change the meaning of something and therefore change the way you feel about it and thus your experience.
Example: Someone is driving like a mad man/women and we think what is wrong with that jerk. Reframing it we would say. I wish they would slow down but they might have a emergency they are going to.
Reframe: Evangelism from going out on a street corner and preaching to complete strangers, to loving and caring for ppl and earning the right to tell them about Jesus when they ask.
You might be over thinking it.
I don’t know enough about the bible or about the different ways to lead people to Christ.

The A, B, C, of salvation:
Pastor I would share my faith with more people but I don’t have the gift of evangelism. True some people have a nature gift to share their faith.
But for the rest of us it is work. It does not come easy. Look at 2 Tim 4:5 nlt
5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.
Work at it. Do something. Remember Go and make disciples?
Stop take a breath. Can you find ways to love on ppl? Yes?
Then who? And how? Well let’s talk about the who and in the coming weeks we can talk about the how.
25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” 27 He answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” 28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” 29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
Jesus tells the story of a man who gets robbed and of the unlikely hero that came to his rescue. Guy steps up and takes care of someone whom he would normally call an enemy.
36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” 37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
Go and do like wise. - Don’t just set there. Go!
Who then should we go to? Go care and show mercy for someone.
We must continue to love and teach Jesus gospel to the young and the old.
Justin / 14 / hit by a cop car. We must find ways to reach the younger gen with the gospel.
- Beautiful story of Renee. We should never stop sharing the gospel with those that are late in life.
Have you opened your heart up to God yet? I hope you do.
