What were some things that you really liked when you were a kid
What are some things you really like now
What has changed
What are some things you really hated when you were a kid that you like now
What has changed
Why are we so different now than we were before?
Some pictures
Change is inevitable
Heraclitus of Ephesus says
Nothing in life is permanent, nor can it be, because the very nature of existence is change.
“the only constant in life is change”
I can tell you this life changes continually
You all are in a state of constant changes
Classes
schools
friends
etc...
In a world where change is all around us you would think that this the case with the designer of this world
God is unchanging
God is unchanging
Our God doesnt change
his morality doesnt chnage
his law doesnt change
He doesnt change
How great a truth is that that God never changes
We dont have to continually adjust to the ever changing rules of God
Like we do with society
Read James 1:17
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
Every good gift every perfect gift comes from above
Everything good comes from God
Always and forever
In this section James also talks about the hard things in life
Hard things and good things will come into our lives, but these things dont change God
He remains the same
We preserver through trials because it helps us to see that God doesnt change
With whom there is no variation
or shadow due to change
There is no turning
The sun rises and falls and changes the shadows
But this doesnt happen with God
Because there is no variation with him
he doesnt change
Old testament
Read Malachi 3:6
6 “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.
Because I dont change my promise doesnt change
my promises for cursing and blessing
Or Read Isaiah 46:8-11
8 “Remember this and stand firm,
recall it to mind, you transgressors,
9 remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
10 declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
11 calling a bird of prey from the east,
the man of my counsel from a far country.
I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass;
I have purposed, and I will do it.
