Introduction
Being a disciple of Christ is not easy. Doing the right thing in spite of evil people, schemers and back stabbers is a very difficult task. Especially when we see those who would not be considered at righteous being blessed. Hanging in this balance is quite difficult. The reason we find ourselves operating from this thought process is because placing confidence in our flesh clouds our vision.
Essentially we are fighting two battles as Christians as well, living a life that is pleasing unto God and ensuring that we do not fall to the debauchery of hypocrisy in attempt to be something that we really aren’t. During this section of the letter to the Philippians, Paul expresses a warning of beware. “Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!”
We can never measure up to Jesus let alone each other. There’s always someone better, there’s always someone with a greater testimony, there’s always someone who has been through more than we’ve been through. There will always be someone with more accolades than we have. When we become distracted by the flesh we lose sight of the blessing we have in God through faith. Romans 1:17 “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”” Regardless of what life looks like right now, regardless of what you are going through tap in to your faith that is the foundation of righteousness!
