God Is Greater Than My Highs and Lows
Good Evening, man I am excited to be able to deliver this message to all of you today. Leading up to this week I really started to think on what I would be preaching on and I could not get the passage that we are going to be going over out of my mind. What was funny was last week I actually utilized this scripture by accident by texting this out instead of the one I had originally planned. Mike had brought it to my attention and before I had figure it out the bulletin had came out. The good thing is no matter what the scripture read God’s word does not return void. So today the title of my sermon is God Is Greater Than My Highs and Lows. Now for many especially those who have kids or youth you have probably seen this phrase or this logo when going about your everyday lives. In fact it has become a huge trend within the Christian circles as of late. Now, although not always attached to one singular verse the verses that we are about to read over is typically the one that goes with it. So if you would please turn to Romans 8:31-39 if you have your Bibles with you and as your able please stand for the reading and hearing of God’s Holy Word!
“What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He did not even spare his own Son but offered him up for us all. How will he not also with him grant us everything? Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies. Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: Because of you we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
So let’s break this down step by step and look at how this applies to each and everyone of our lives. Vs’ 31-32 states “What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He did not even spare his own Son but offered him up for us all. How will he not also with him grant us everything?
It is important to note that this whole chapter is a beautiful display that walks the individual through the sufficiency, sovereignty, and love of God with the culmination of that love being displayed in the substitutionary act of God in Christ on our behalf! Which is where we find ourselves.
