Staying True In An Untrue World

Intro - Jesus was all about inclusion but Jesus, the Word, is also potent. The Word is Kingdom Leaven. Only it can change a hard heart while healing a broken heart. Jesus’ inclusion was transformational, not affirmational.

1 Timothy 4:13–16 NKJV

Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

HEED MYSELF

Make sure I’m right and on the right side - 1 Cor. 9:27 I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.

Be a cleansed vessel of honor - 2 Tim 2:20-21 “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”

Lift Jesus higher - John 12:32 “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.””

HEED MY DOCTRINE

Doctrine is sound teaching

Jesus was inclusive - transformational not affirmational

He didn’t teach prostitutes to serve their clients better.

He didn’t tell tax collectors to swindle people more

He told them to go and sin no more.

Transformed not conformed.

IH - Hand up not a hand out

Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Kingdom leaven

Luke 13:20-21 “And again He said, “To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.””

SAVE YOURSELF AND THOSE WHO HEAR YOU

Noah saved himself and his family

Philippian jailer saved himself and his family - Acts 16:31

Joseph saved himself, his family, his nation, and other nations.

How?

Speak truth in love

A bruised reed He will not break - Matt 12:20 “A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench, Till He sends forth justice to victory;”

Love unconditionally -

People will listen because you care.
