Mark 10:46-52 “And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.”

Mark 9:30 “And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.” now i wonder why he didnt want anyone to know how or where he was traveling , maybe it was because every time Jesus was around there were a lot of followers and this time he wanted to just be with his disciples this time in travel which Jesus did do so he could teach them on their way . so if we read Mark 10:32 “And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,” we see here that is the reason he wanted to be alone with his disciples to tell them about things that were going to happen to him. see there is a reason for all things that Jesus did!!!!!!!!!!!! so they made it to Jericho and once they left the crowd joined them.

V 46B and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. so as they traveled from Jericho with the crowd they came across a blind man who was begging ,which is nothing for a blind man to if he had no family to take of him so the only thing he could do was beg for food or money since this was the only road they traveled to get to jerusalem and since it was full of the followers and people of Jewish residents making their way to the passover celebration . and this was the perfect place to be if you were a beggar or in our case and time anywhere there is a lot of traffic you will see the same thing full of homeless or panhandlers. and believe me i see them all the time here in Manassas and crystal city and DC. and i do help when i can only i must try and be like our Pastor set down and talk to one of them every now and then. but here in the book of Matthew states there were two blind men see Matthew 20:30 “And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.” but mark focus on one whose name is known Bartimaeus did you know that Bar means Son of , the same as in the name Barnabas see Acts 4:36 “And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,” and in this case bartimaeus being the so of timaeus catchie huh!

47a when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth
47a when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth
as we see here Jesus Reputation was well known old bartimaeus knew about the miracle and healing power see Mark 6:54-56 “And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him, And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.” So hearing that this was Jesus of Nazareth made a difference since the name of Jesus (in Hebrew Joshua) was a common name but this Jesus born in Bethlehem found in Matthew 2:1;luke :4-7 and his parents lived in Nazareth and they returned when Jesus was very young see Matthew 2:22-23;Luke 2:39 “And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.” this is how Jesus was remembered as Jesus of Nazareth ‘ so it stuck with him.(we all have names that stick with us and we are know by this name in our home towns Mine is curly whats yours that you are known by friends and family. in your home town?) 47 b. He began to shout Jesus son Of David Have mercy on me ! So this Blind man wasn't to concern of what was going on only that he had heard that jesus would be passing by and if he could only get his attention just maybe Jesus would have mercy on him . So he shouted loud so that Jesus could hear him even in the crowd and he also said Son of David knowing that all Jews that followed God back in Davids time are sons of David the greatest King in history see Matthew 20:30 “And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.” who worshiped God always . making Jesus being son of God just as great like David but better!!!!!!!!!!!!! once Bartimaeus said this it made the crowd and everyone that heard him saw that this blind man was looking for a little hope from Christ . that he might have mercy on him. look at the other teachings of christ in the book of Luke 4:18-21;7:21 “And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.” this is the Gospel of Christ.

v48.48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. now the crowd was trying to tell him to be quiet not thinking of the situation the blind man was in only that he was too loud and should be quiet. but this blind man didn't care what people thought he shouted even the more . just like when we drive or walk by homeless we don't want tho hear what they have to say that's why just maybe we should listen maybe we can understand of give some advice and not just walk by. think about it !!!!! no matter what they said to bartimaeus he got even louder........ SAYING HAVE MERCY ON ME.

49a. Jesus Stopped and said Call him ; so they called to the blind man cheer up! Now when there is a crowd of people talking and someone needs to be heard the crowd is supposed to be quiet but that don't work all the time people continue to talk but in this case Jesus’s action and words quickly changed the tone of the crowd our jesus know that once he stopped and spoke the crowd would diffidently halt and be quiet . so they stop telling the blind man what to do see (mark 10:48 ) but once Jesus stopped that's when they changed their tune . so they stop and listen to see what was going happen next. see lesson last paragraph .

49b.on your feet! which meant that he was probably sitting down as most beggars did ( see Matthew 9:5-7; mark 2:9-12: acts 3:6-7 ) acts 3:6-7 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. these are some of the miracles that were done by or in the name of Jesus. so with this blind man sitting or lying on the ground his voice must have been loud enough to get through the crowd because it was heard by Jesus or as we know Jesus he probably already knew the man was going to be there.....

49c. this phrase wraps the (four-fold echo) meaning that four things happened up to this point first blind man Bartimaeus called out to Jesus 2nd the crowd called to bartimaeus to be quiet 3rd Jesus called to bartimaeus to speak to him personally 4th the crowd called bartimaeus to come to Jesus. whether they wanted to or not they did what Jesus asked them to do . in contrast to (luke 18:15-17 015 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. see this is exactly what we as Christians should be doing calling on people to come to Jesus it our duty to do this so we can all be reconciled back to GOD.

50a throwing his cloak aside he jumped to hi feet and came to Jesus. you see this old blind man name bartimaeus threw his coat aside and came to Jesus immediately hoping to have Jesus have mercy on and give him sight in order to see because of his faith in Christ . we must always keep having faith in Christ so that Jesus can answer our prayers and give us what we stand in of. Amen?

51a what do you want me to do for you?
51a what do you want me to do for you?
its not that Jesus didn't know what he wanted because as we know our Jesus had divine insight or that all knowing power just like the Father God.compare matthew 9:4 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts the knowing part . compare 12:25; luke 6:8;9:47.all these comparesing shows that Jesus knows whats in our mind and hearts. so we cant fool jesus or God because they already know . jesus just wanted bartimaeus to say what was on his heart, so the crowd could hear it.

51b the blind man said Rabbi i want to see. bartimaeis was straight to the point he knew that once he got his sight back he would be able to do the things that other people could and not be dependent on them or any one else. even though he could not see he did have Spiritual sight because he know that Jesus was the Messiah (compare mark 10:47-48 )sent by God . and with Spiritual sight he knew that Jesus could give his sight back or his sight i don't know if he was blind from birth or a accident that happen all i know is he wanted to be able to see. so thanks to his spiritual sight and faith in Jesus it can happen not the crowd who may not have spiritual sight compare Matthew 23:13-26 “But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
