Intro

Properity gospel takes a good thing and twists it. We are rich in Christ..God says he promises to provide for his children. There is blessing in Christ. But we take it and make it about temporary monetary value. God’s will is to make us rich on earth, to bless us with all good things…a house, toys, etc...
I am not talking about deliverance in the context of salvation....that happens in a moment, and we are secure in Christ.
I’m talking about a deliverance in the context of sanctification....the process of becoming like Christ…that happens over a lifetime.
The prosperity Gospel can take on different forms
The prosperity Gospel of money is send in a donation, and God will bless you with finances.
The prosperity Gospel of deliverance is come to an altar, and God will take away your struggles
Porn addiction for 20 years and it is gone in a moment
Drug addiction for 20 years and it is gone in a moment
Marriage problems, and there is restoration in a moment
Problem of pride and it is gone in a moment
Problem of lust and it is gone in a moment
Deliverance was not meant to substitute discipleship or discipline
Deliverance is easy, the other two take work, time, and intention.
There is nothing wrong with you just because you feel a tension between freedom in Christ, and your current struggles.
Deliverance can come through Godly discipline.
Godly discipline causes us to have to come to God everyday of our lives. His grace is new every morning.
Christianity isn’t as cut and dry as we wish it would be. It is messy. People are messy. Analogy of dying person and new birth.
When we live in the space of always looking for the moment of deliverance, we will always live in defeat and discouragement and with the mentality that “I can’t change until God does this in me.” He has already given you what you need.
God has equipped you to walk in freedom and deliverance through Godly discipline
Atomic Habits
Jesus changed who you are before He changed what you do
You now work from a place of a new creation. You have to see yourself and identify yourself with Christ. It will free you up from the doing. It doesn’t become about what you need to stop doing and what you need to start doing…it becomes about who you are becoming.
That bracelet that reads, what would jesus do?
King David who struggled with sin
