What's in Your Hand, Moses?
Notes
Transcript
1 But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The Lord never appeared to you’?” 2 Then the Lord asked him, “What is that in your hand?” “A shepherd’s staff,” Moses replied. 3 “Throw it down on the ground,” the Lord told him. So Moses threw down the staff, and it turned into a snake! Moses jumped back. 4 Then the Lord told him, “Reach out and grab its tail.” So Moses reached out and grabbed it, and it turned back into a shepherd’s staff in his hand. 5 “Perform this sign,” the Lord told him. “Then they will believe that the Lord, the God of their ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—really has appeared to you.”

What if Moses said, "No". I mean, he did try and say no...
What if God asked Moses because someone else said, "No"?
Moses asked how he would fulfill God's plan. God asked what's in your hand?
What was it?

God wanted to use Moses and what Moses had to offer
Think of the things Moses did with that staff...
Parting seas
Getting water from a rock
etc...
Guess what!? It's the same for us too
How often have we said NO to our burning bush moment.
The question is not, what if Moses said, No. The question is, are we saying NO? Are we NOT allowing God to use us and what is in our hand?
We all have something in our hand
7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. 11 It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.
6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you. 15 Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.
If you are attending here, GREAT!
Imagine what God can do with what little we have in our hand. If only we were willing to lay it down at God’s feet to be blessed and used by God!
This is YOUR BURNING BUSH MOMENT! What do you have in your hand to offer the church? What do you have in your hand to offer the world? How has God gifted YOU and blessed YOU so that you can use what is in your hand to bless the world?
