The Far Reaches of Sin: Where No Man Should Have Ever Gone
Notes
Transcript
My father is a huge si-fi fanatic. If you put the word “star” in the title of the show, I can promise you he is interested. Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galatica.
I remember watching the old star treks with my dad, and they would always open with, “Space....the final frontier....these are the voyages of the starship Enterprise....boldly going where no man has gone before....”
One day I started thinking, even if space is the final frontier why do you want to go? Every time they went out into space, their lives were put at risk. Space was literally a blackhole sucking all who entered into it, never to return!
In Gen. 3, we are introduced into a new frontier which has become a daily life. If you are wandering how we got here, Genesis 3 documents the beginning of this blackhole which swallows all who come.
If we had a theme song to start this message, it would sound something like this… “Sin....a deadly frontier....this is the story of the human race.....unfortunately going where no man should have ever gone!”
Sin’s Breakthrough (v.7)
Sin’s Breakthrough (v.7)
In v. 7, we see a chain reaction of events coming to its ultimate fulfillment in these words, “the eyes of both of them WERE OPENED!”
Notice, the passivity of the action.
They went looking for sin, and upon finding it, sin took control.
EX: Pandora’s Box
Notice the activity, this is the first time humanity is associated with making something.
Gen. 1:7 - God made the sky.
Gen. 1:16 - God made the sun, moon, and stars.
Gen. 1:25 - God made the land animals.
Gen. 1:31; 2:3-4 - God made it all!
Gen. 3:7 - Man’s first marvelous creation is a coverup!
Notice their condition did not change but their perception of it did.
Sin’s Revelation (v.8)
Sin’s Revelation (v.8)
The word of the Lord becomes intolerable.
The fellowship of the Lord becomes undesirable.
The presence of the Lord becomes fearful.
The presence of the Lord is either a fearful thing in your life.
,or it is a joyful thing in your life.
Sin’s Damage (v.9)
Sin’s Damage (v.9)
I am not sure there is a better verse to show you the damage of sin.
Notice the subject - the Lord God
Hear the verb - called or cried out!
Recognize the object - Adam
Feel the question this morning, “Where are you?”
Understand this question did not come from a lack of knowledge. God knew exactly where Adam was.
This question came from one of acknowledgment. That Adam would recognize where he was.

Conclusion:
This morning the question goes out today. The Spirit of God is still crying out to you father, mother, child, young man or woman, old man or woman.
Can you hear it? “Where are you!”
The question goes out to you this morning believer living in open sin. Who fills up their days with the things of this life, failing to store up treasures in heaven!
Can you hear it? “Where are you!”
Oh no man should have ever gone there. Sins reach is far to great, but praise God! For, one man walked into the death of sin and death. He became sin who knew no sin, so you might become the righteousness of God! He came out revealed to be fully God and fully man! Jesus Christ!
So, when God calls, “Where are you!”
If you are found in Him, you can call back, “Through the blood of Jesus shed for me, I am here!”
