Dealing with Spirits

Introduction

· I believe that soon have lots of questions. I want to understand what is going on.

· Two things coming: (Tuesday Prayer – the Lord showed me a car racing toward me) (1) One headlight was Revival (2) The other headlight was God’s judgement

· I’m hungry for revival and concerned that once judgment comes, many won’t be ready.

· No matter what, that. I want the truth to come out. I want the evil people exposed, and the presence of God to come and settle here at HWC.

· Today, dealing with the Devil and how he used fear to attack us, rob from us, and kill our dreams and ministries, and ultimately destroy us.

· Some will say, “Fear is just a part of life.” NO!!! While fear is an emotion, we all experience, it is also a spirit sent from the pits of hell to torment us. But fear is not something that should grip or paralyze us. It is time to give this demon of fear an eviction notice.

· I want to deal with the spirits of darkness and expose their strategies. We will do this over the next several weeks.

So far we’ve covered the spirits: (1) Bondage (2) Fear (3) Deaf & Dumb

The Strategies of the Enemy #1

In the Marvel cinematic universe, the single biggest thread of tension since the first Avengers movie has not been good vs. evil. It has been the relationship between two key heroes—Iron Man (Tony Stark) and Captain America (Steve Rogers)—who are constantly at each other’s throats and have drastically different views on how to confront problems. This, ultimately, is why they have friction.

In like manner, I do not believe the Church’s biggest problem today is the devil. I believe it is the Church’s perception of how to deal with the devil.

2 Strategies of the Enemy #1

• ONE – He is like a Roaring Lion

o 1 Peter 5:8 tells us, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion.”

o Let’s be clear, the Devil is NOT a Roaring Lion…Jesus Christ is the Lion of the Trible of Judah…the concurring king…the KING OF THE JUNGLE…There is no other name like Jesus. There is POWER In His name.

o Come on somebody…shout!

o Lion. “The most powerful, daring, and impressive of all carnivorous animals, the most magnificent in aspect and awful in voice.” At present lions do not exist in Palestine; but they must in ancient times have been numerous. When driven by hunger it not only ventured to attack the flocks in the desert in presence of the shepherd, 1 Sam. 17:34; Isa. 31:4, but laid waste towns and villages, 2 Kings 17:25, 26; Prov. 22:13; 26:13, and devoured men, 1 Kings 13:24; 20:36. Among the Hebrews, and throughout the Old Testament, the lion was the achievement of the princely tribe of Judah, while in the closing book of the BIBLE it received a deeper significance as the emblem of him who “prevailed to open the book and loose the seven seals thereof” (Rev. 5:5). On the other hand, its fierceness and cruelty rendered it an appropriate metaphor for a fierce and malignant enemy, Ps. 7:2; 22:21; 57:4; 2 Tim. 4:17, and hence for the archfiend himself. 1 Pet. 5:8.

o Satan is like a roaring lion? When you can feel him crouching around you, waiting to pounce. Right when you want to do something good, something great for Jesus, there he is…like the chill of cold you feel when you’re standing in a graveyard, in the dark of night. That fear rises and comes upon you.

o Satan is like a roaring lion? When he opens his big mouth to roar…to scare us with his evil spirit of fear. He is like a roaring lion…but he’s not a lion. So, his roar isn’t powerful like a lion’s.

o Remember the scene in the Chronicles of Narnia when Asland Roars. The evil, white witch sits down under the power of that roar.

o We must treat the Devil like Samson did:

 Samson, the strongest man to ever live (The Incredible Hulk). He dealt with the strongman called fear in his own way. He used his God given strength to teach the devil a lesson.

 Judges 14:5-6 “Then Samson and his father and mother went down to Timnah and came to the vineyards of Timnah. And behold, a young lion roared against him. 6And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he tore the lion as he would have torn a kid, and he had nothing in his hand; but he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.”

 The Hebrew word tore is shasa to divide, cleave:—make a split, tear, he tore him as one tears…AND I love this one. It means to persuade!!!

 The way you persuade the devil…the way you tear him apart is to invoke the roar of the Lord. You say, “I COMMAND YOU, IN THE NAME OF JESUS TO GO!”

 Amos 3:8 says, “The lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken; who can but prophesy? [Acts 4:20; 5:20, 29; I Cor. 9:16.]”

• TWO – He is the ultimate Deceiver - Liar

• Lie—an intentional violation of the truth. Statements or answers which are untrue; lying, false witness, deceit and false dealings are all condemned in Scripture (John 8:44; 1 Tim. 1:9, 10; Rev. 21:27; 22:15). Mention is made of the lies told by good men, as by Abraham (Gen. 12:12, 13; 20:2), Isaac (26:7), and Jacob (27:24); also, by the Hebrew midwives (Ex. 1:15–19), by Michal (1 Sam. 19:14), and by David (1 Sam. 20:6).

• Lying will not go unnoticed or unpunished (Prov. 19:9), God’s people should resist the temptation to lie (Job 27:2-5). Lying is the hallmark of the Devil and one day the Antichrist.

• The Bible is very clear about who the Devil and his demons are: John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

• Revelation 12:9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

• 2 Corinthians 11:3 (NKJV) 3But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

• 2 John 7 (NKJV) 7For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

• SATAN The Hebrew word שָׂטָן (Satan) means to oppose, obstruct, or accuse. The Greek term (σατάν, Satan) literally means “adversary.” In the New Testament, it refers to a title or a name—(the) Satan. The term שָׂטָן (satan) is rendered as diabolos in the Septuagint (Old Testament translated into Greek).

Here is how the Devil deceives and lies to us

1. The Mind – First of all, his target is your mind. When Satan wanted to lead the first man and woman into sin, he began by attacking eve’s mind (as we read earlier in 2 Cor. 11:3). He attacks our minds because it is a very important part of the image of God, where God communicates with you and reveals His will and plan for you. Romans 12:2 says, 2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

2. The Lies

 In the beginning…notice the steps Satan took in getting Eve to believe his lie.

 Here is what God said, Genesis 2:16–17 (KJV) Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

 First, He questioned God’s Word – “Indeed, has God said You shall not eat of every tree of the garden” – Bring doubt that maybe she misunderstood what God spoke.

 Second, He denied God’s Word in Genesis 3:4 saying, “You will not surely die.” This is where we get into trouble…we listen to another opinion over God. There are no second opinions when it comes to God’s Word.

 Third, He substituted his own lie – Genesis 3:4 saying, “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” They were already made in the image of God, but Satan tempted them with an even greater privilege: TO BE LIKE GOD. This is ONE GIGANTIC LIE, that has controlled civilizations since the fall of man. This is the major problem facing humanity today, I will worship myself, others, things, money, RATHER than the Creator. We seek to do it alone (never God’s intent), we need Him all the time, and every day. Self-seeking people fall right into the devil’s trap.

 FACT IS: God accomplishes his will on earth through truth (Jesus and the Word of God); Satan accomplishes his purposes through lies. When the child of God (You and me), believes God’s truth, then the Holy Spirit can work in power; for the Holy Spirit is also the truth (John 16:13).

 But when a person believes a lie, then Satan goes to work in that person’s life. However, Satan never plays fair…He never advertises, “That this thing is a lie.”

 2 Cor. 11:13-14 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.

• Seven Promises of Jesus

o The Promise of Life – John 10:10 “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”

o Peace – John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. There is the peace of Christ and of God. This is, first, a bosom peace, a peace deep within. It is a tranquility of mind, a composure, a peace that is calm in the face of bad circumstances and situations. It is more than feelings—even more than attitude and thought.

o Grace – Ephesians 4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (Paul speaking) And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

o Victory – 1 Corinthians 15:57 (NKJV) 57But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

o gift.

o Freedom – John 8:32 (NKJV) 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” 2 Cor. 3:17 declares, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

o Deliverance – Colossians 1:13–14 (NKJV) 13He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

o Everlasting Life – John 4:14 (NKJV) 14but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

o I END WITH THAT GOOD, GOOD NEWS.

Conclusion

• IT’S TIME FOR SPIRITUAL WARFARE – It’s time to let the truth of God invade our minds, bodies…where demons’ dwell.

• DEMONIC ATTACKS - Demons are identified in Scripture as fallen angels who joined Satan in his rebellion. They follow Satan, doing evil and wreaking havoc. They have limited power and like Satan are already defeated.

• TWO THINGS GOD DID: (1) He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and (2) He transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son. Colossians 1:13-14 says, “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

• Colossians 2:15 is our focus. Jesus disarmed demons’; we’re going to do the same. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

• AS YOUR PASTOR, I DECLARE LUKE 4:18 TODAY: It says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

• It was Christ who fulfilled that passage, but we are sent to represent Him.

• NOW, I want to lead you through deliverance from THE DEAF & DUMB SPIRIT

THE DEAF & DUMB SPIRIT

 MARK 9:25 identifies the Deaf and Dumb Spirit: “25When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more! 26 Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.”

 These are the manifestations of the Deaf & Dumb Spirit: I’M GOING TO READ EACH ONE AND THEN PRAY DELIVERANCE. SO, IF YOU IDENTIFY WITH THESE, THEN TAKE AUTHORITY.

1. The strongman…the foul deaf and dumb spirit – The deaf and dumb spirit causes physical issues such as epilepsy and seizures, but on the spiritual side it it rooted in unbelief which causes apathy, an inability to focus (which is also distraction), spiritual deafness, and an inability to learn, receive and communicate. My prayer: I declare and decree over myself, my family, this church body will no longer turn aside from hearing and responding to truth. I bind the strongmen of the deaf and dumb spirit, unbelief and the perverse spirit in the name and authority of Jesus Christ. I forbid them from speaking, influencing, controlling or dominating others. By the authority of Jesus Christ, I render them powerless, paralyzed and impotent. I command these spirits to be dismantled, torn down and sent back to the place God created for them in Jesus’ name.

2. Dumbness (Mark 9:22) “Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.” The word dumb in the Scriptures does not mean lacking intelligence but rather the inability to speak. Luke 1:20 – “And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed.” This is a physical attack on the ability to speak

3. Inner Ear Disease: These manifestations of the deaf and dumb spirit include vertigo, dizziness, noise in the ears (tinnitus), light headedness, motion sickness or nausea, faintness, or weakness.

4. Lunacy / Insanity: (Matt. 17:15) ““Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed” (Matthew 17:15). This is a spirit that drives someone mad…not in their right mind. Here the dark spirit attacks the person mind, thoughts, will and more.

5. Epilepsy (Mark 17:17-18) “Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. 18 And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid.” This, according to medical science effects the nervous system. Brain behavior becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behavior, sensations, and a lost of awareness. This spirit

6. Seizures / Convulsions: Medicine calls a seizure a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain. It can cause changes in your behavior, movements, or feeling, and in levels of consciences.” It could very well be spiritual in nature. The Bible says, “He is possessed by an evil spirit that won’t let him talk. 18 And whenever this spirit seizes him, it throws him violently to the ground. Then he foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid.”

7. Suicidal Tendencies: (This is the fear of judgment to come. In this passage God allows the enemy to judge Israel because they persisted in apostasy (turning away from God) and rejecting him. The results: God will turn away from them. Freedom over terror is found in righteous living, so repent and command this evil terror to leave. The Lord says, “In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you” (Isa. 54:14).

8. Prostrating: This includes night terrors. Is an evil spirit hounding you at night with dreams and night terrors? Are you unable to sleep because your fear the darkness? Let’s pray this evil presence leaves and never returns. Did something happen in your blood line that gave demons the right to terrorize you at night? Let’s pray against this fear and command it to leave in the name of Jesus.

9. Blindness: (Matt. 12:22) “Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.” This spirit attaches itself to the deaf and dump spirit in the Bible

10. Eye disease: (Matt. 6:22) “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single [clear; undivided; without hypocrisy], thy whole body shall be full of light.” Aside from natural aging, this spirit can attack our eyesight. This evil spirit takes the long road and weakens us with eye disease…causing us to slowly lose our ability to see and could therefore make us struggle spiritually.

It’s time to Attack the Enemy

 All these things (these spirits…these manifestations) will only produce death and worthlessness and will pull you deeper into fear. WE…YOU MUST BREAK THESE SPIRITS OFF OF YOU.
