Intro: Before diving into the text the Lord has prepared for us today, we must go forward and see a change in the makeup of humanity.
In Gen. 5:1-3, there is a slight almost imperceptible shift which has devastating effects for humanity and the world.
This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
In this section, we hear God’s original creation altered by man’s imprint.
The effect of this nuance is drastic. I used before the metaphor of a golf club and the minute difference between being in the fairway or the rough.
However, the situation just described is more align with this news headline on Sept. 17, 2021: US MILITARY ADMITS IT KILLED 10 CIVILIANS AND TARGETED WRONG CAR IN KABUL AIRSTRIKE!
So, to grasp the massive shift from these verse, we must investigate the aftermath of conflict between two brothers.
Sin is a Generational Issue. (vs. 1-2)
Sin is a Generational Issue. (vs. 1-2)
Eve hoped for a Savior and gave birth to a sinner.
Sin is not an accident. It is the poison of which only one Person can treat!
Sin is a Religious Issue. (vs. 3-7)
Sin is a Religious Issue. (vs. 3-7)
See the attitudes of Cain and Abel:
Cain brought fruit of the ground but not firstfruits.
The missing phrase speaks volume to his attitude.
Abel brought the firstling of his flock with the fat thereof
See the actions of Cain and Abel:
The presentation of crop in sacrifice caused no contemplation of purpose.
The presentation of the lamb required the physical and mental activity in the process.
See the outcome of their religious activity
Abel went about his way at peace with God.
Cain went home very angry and at war with his brother.

Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

Conclusion:
Toward the end of his career, Frank Sinatra wrote a song called, “My Way.” Throughout the song, Sinatra continues to use this phrase, “I did it may way.” The song ends with this chilling verse:
And to think I did all that
And may I say not in a shy way
No, no, not me
I did it my way
For what is a man, what has he got
If not himself, then he has naught
Not to say the things that he truly feels
And not the words of someone who kneels
The record shows I took all the blows
And did it my way
Friends, Mr. Sinatra sang the song of Cain! From the simple inspection of his life and the fruitlessness of salvation I have no qualms with saying Mr. Sinatra is currently experiencing his eternal sentence by an Almighty God, and if I could resurrect him from the grave, I can promise you he would not sing, “My Way.”
He would tell you and me, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul.”
