All right, please stand for our scripture reading, brother. Joel is going to come and do that for us.

You want to just read from up here? When you click the next line.

Here we go. A scripture reading this morning comes from 1st Corinthians chapter 12. There are diversities of gifts. But the Same Spirit there are differences of Ministries, but the same lord and there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the spirit is given to each one for the profit of all. Click. 421 is given the word of wisdom, through the spirit, to another the word of knowledge, to The Same Spirit to another Faith by The Same Spirit to another Gifts of healing, by The Same Spirit. To another the working of Miracles to another prophecy, to another Discerning of spirits to another different kinds of times to another, the interpretation of times. But one and the Same Spirit works, all these things Distributing to each one individually. As he Wills.

May God had his Blessing to the reading and hearing of the word this morning. Please be seated.

Thank you, brother Joel.

Obviously, as I said before, Pastor, John is gone, so we're going to have a party. Now we're going to now, we're in First Corinthians. He's been working through. We're going to get to these passive. He's going to get to these passages, but I wanted to do a little groundwork. Can he said fine? Because he said, chances are I'm going to come from a different angle when he comes. Meaning way of teaching point out different things. So if in a few weeks or months to August of these passages, we're going to deal with today. You'll go. This sounds familiar. But pay attention. So let me pray for us. Before we go on Heavenly Father. Lord. I just I thank you for your word. It's precious. It's a love letter that you wrote To Us in blood nailed to a cross, and it was given to us that we might have life and we might understand what you have ordained. There is much confusion in the world, the church world. And I pray that as we look into these passages today. Some of that confusion will fall away and that we might get a little bit more clarity and what you have ordained specially in this topic of spiritual gifts. Pray that you'll be glorified by our message today. In Christ's name. We pray. Amen. Okay, so I have entitled this message the maturing of knowledge. I think we can all relate. Can anybody remember being a little kid crawling around hands and knees and then growing up? So in terms of spiritual gifts, that's kind of what has to go on or what has been going on in the church over the years. So is we've already discovered in our journey through First Corinthians. I spoken during some months ago now out of chapter 8 and one of the things that we learn that you fear any remember, or you could just open your Bibles to look at 1st Corinthians, 8, verse 1. God doesn't want us to be ignorant. He wants to know. But the problem is knowledge in and of itself pops up. It has to be administered, used activated through love, and that was what my message was way back now, so wisely managed. The knowledge that God gives us his god-given knowledge, helps us rightly to understand or divide the word of God. Instead of 2nd Timothy 2:15. You don't have to turn there, but you can look at it sometime on your own. So, in a, in a Christian realm today. There's a lot of confusion. You know, we have all these denominations. We have all these different groups and we'll we believe in his, we believe in that we meet on Sundays, we meet on Saturdays. There's a lot of confusion. And if you do over Bible Doctrine, sweet disagree, and that's why denominations form, an, do you believe in transubstantiation? We believe in consubstantiation. Do we believe in the memorial service, you're talking about the communion. So, there's a lot of things, but I think that the really the, the area that's the sharpest delineation, isn't spiritual gifts. You know, how do we take spiritual gifts? What are they? How do we administer them? What do we do? How they practiced Etc?

So we have to exercise god-given wisdom to figure this out. We also have to go to his word. Go to the scriptures.

So scripture clearly teaches and we're not this so much, I could go, by the way. I Probably need you guys to strap in cuz we're going to go fast eventually and I go to cut out a third of what I was going to say. So if I go to ours, just be glad it wasn't three.

So I've already cut out of there at 33%, So I'm just going to stipulate, you know, how in the court of law that you boil to go? Well, we stipulate this that we assume this is correct in that, we agree with that. So I'm a shin scripture, clearly teaches that spiritual gifts are given out by the Holy Spirit. The word gift in the Greek is the word Patty Smyth. How do you smile? We get the word Charisma or charismatic from it? So, when he talked about charismatic movement, they really over and precise spiritual gifts. Hence, the name Charisma, and then course, if it's regarding the holy spirit's pneumatic, that we normally, but in the Greek to pee in the end or pronounced, which is really hard when you have a dry mouth, neumatica means pertaining to the spirit, so, Cuddy's mob neumatica would be gifts pertaining to the spirit. That makes sense you with me so far. All right. So let me give you a couple of just quick quick. It was Grayson's dealing with this idea of maturing of knowledge.

You ever hear that I'm not a Wine Drinker or, you know, heavy Spirits, never hear them talk about the fact that we have to cage them a bottle. Then we put them in a barrel and change them. So you age them. How about if you're cutting wood? Do you use the, would you cut immediately the green wood, or do you have to season it yet to season? It. It works better that way, Burns better that way. And then of course, another one is it? Have you ever been told when you were a little kid by your parents? Someday? You'll understand. So we have to grow up, we have to age, we have to mature. So with that in mind, let's look at a chart.

There are four groupings of spiritual gifts or places that you find them in the Bible for places specifically. There is some mentioned in another book, but they don't mention the gifts. They just talk about spiritual gifts gifts, do this, but doesn't tell you what they are, or name them in these, four primary passages. We find spiritual gifts. And I apologize if that's a really small. Can you guys read the verses or the 1st? Corinthians? 12 8 to 10. For sprinting is 12, 28 to 30, Romans 12, 6 to 8 in Ephesians 4:11. Can you guys read that? Okay, and it's in the bulletin, I hope. All right, so In the first passage, we get these listed. I don't want to spend a lot of time specifically listing them. I mean you're familiar with some of these word of knowledge or Word of Wisdom, word of knowledge, Faith healings Miracles, prophecies Discerning of spirits, tongues interpretation of tongue. That's in 1st Corinthians 12:8 to 8 to 10 and you might have recognized that Jewel kind of was going through those for us know later in the chapter. There's some more they're listed. Sorry wrong button, you'll notice the color coordination means that there's some that were already listed earlier. For example, you see that he leaves his in both columns and it's blue. Paint and miracles isn't both columns. It's purple, right? Get that. Okay, so then, but then he list three or four more Apostles, teachers helps administrations. Then in Romans 12, we get some more and two of those are repeated prophecy again, teaching his repeated from 1st Corinthians, 12:28 2:30, but he has a new ministry, excitation giving ruling leading Mercy, right? Everybody following came in Ephesians 4, therefore more that are listed, but two of those are repeats as well. Evangelist teacher teaching postures. Those are the ones that are listed by name in scriptures of 20 of them. Okay, and that's what we're going to deal with these 20. Now I'm not going to get into whether some Scholars say, well, this is not an exhaustive list is probably more, that weren't listed. It's probably true, but I'm not going to go there. Okay. So in your notes and your outline, the first point that we want to deal with this was originally, Roman numeral 2. It's now Roman numeral. Number one is Roman numeral. Number one has been exercised. And if you want to know more come and talk to me later. So this is the first big major point we want to deal with the purpose of spiritual gifts. Can everybody read. I know it's small.

Okay. So this is the purpose of spiritual gifts. In other words, we have spiritual gifts. God has given them. But why what are they for? What are we doing with them? So, we want to look at there. The first thing that we need to understand is the purpose of spirit, spiritual gifts, is the usage of spiritual gifts. Goes hand-in-hand with something else.

Signs. Signs, what's a sign? There's an exit sign right there. What is it telling you? It's Jenna and I were like in an emergency go. That way the exit, right? It's labeled. It's a it's in red because it's a warning sign. This is the way out in case. There's a fire. So what sign is something that's given as a signal? It's a, it's a description. It's a commandment. It's a warning. A beacon like a flashing red light when the siren goes by. What you supposed to do to get out of the way. Let him go there. Warnings pesos signs are all throughout the Bible. The first mention of the word is in Genesis chapter 1, when God said, he made the sun moon and the stars as signs. North for various reasons, I'm not going to get in. That was a whole lot better sermon. If you like that idea go to the sermon I did about a year ago on the website or the YouTube site. Okay, so they go hand-in-hand with signs. Okay. So now let's looks kind of explore. What does that mean? What was the purpose of signs? When God gave us sign. And you probably remember that people came to Jesus and they said, well, give us a sign. And he was saying what we have been doing Miracles and raising the dead. Aren't those signs. So big, they were kind of ignorant. They were looking for him to do some miracle. So signs, one of the purpose is it to introduce new? Your us. When God has a new timetable in New Era. He introduces are uses signs. And or spiritual gifts that make sense you with me so far. Okay, they're also to introduce a new program. So that means the same kind of like the new year is new programs. For example, when Moses got the law, that was a new era. That was a new program. It hadn't happened before. It was something new. And associated with him in Egypt in and outside of Egypt, there were signs miracles. Do a test, the validity of what was happening. So, to introduce new Urus. Can you hear the verse 2nd Corinthians 12:12? Notice, it says, truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance in signs and wonders and mighty Deeds. So, the signs of an apostle. How many apostles did we have?

Well, not now. No, I know. Very good answer. By the way, if anyone tries to tell you today, there are Apostles, the test of an apostle. Go to two Acts chapter one. It says, the deposit has to be someone who had seen Jesus. And I mean, like, literally. So are there apostles today know? So the signs of an apostle, the apostles, the 11:00, and then course, Mathias was added to make the 12th. And then we had Paul. So there's our group of Apostles, the signs of an apostle were in signs wonders, and mighty Deeds. Okay, another word to prove that they were an apostle. They did signs and wonders and mighty Deeds. That makes sense. Okay. So another aspect of the usage of our purpose of spiritual gifts is to vindicate new Messengers. Another words. This is like God saying, this is the guy I am speaking through. He's going to do signs and wonders to prove who he is. He's going to show you his credentials. Okay. Look at x222 here. This is obviously Pentecost, Peter speaking. But he makes this statement men of Israel. Hear these words Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested. By God to you by Miracles wonders, and signs, which God did threw him in your midst. As you yourselves also know, another words. They witnessed it. Peter was telling I'm looking Jesus. Christ is a man from God and because of them things that he did the Miracles, which you saw, he is a man of God. He's the one, he's the messenger. Okay, and another purpose was to our offense of Kate. The message or the Revelation another words, starting a new program, a new thing got a new messenger. And we have new things that he's telling us that hasn't been revealed before. And that's more than just the Book of Revelation. By the way, that's that is a message to us. Something that was revealed that the idea of any time God reveals something, it's Revelation. It was something that was previously hidden or not disclosed and now it's being disclosed. The word in Greek for Revelation is apocalypses. We get the word apocalypse. But when we think apocalypse, we think of explosions and Fire and Rain and things coming down, judgment seals and bowls and trumpets, but the word apocalypse is not what it is. That's not the meaning in Greek. It means unveiling like someone pulling the thing off of a statue. Look at this new artwork. It's an unveiling. It's a revealing. It's an apocalipsis. That makes sense. Thank you, still strapped in. Okay. Ask 14/3. Therefore they stayed there a long time. We're talking to, in the book of Acts were dealing with missionary Journeys here. So they stayed there a long time. Speaking boldly in the Lord, who is bearing witness to the word of his grace granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands. So again, here we have new revelation. Paul is writing new things, new books. Most of the New Testament Epistles were written by the Apostle Paul new revelation. So it's one of our characteristics of signs.

Okay, there we go. So, the purpose of spiritual gifts, goes hand-in-hand with signs. Okay. Now, the second thing to think about, it's we need to understand God's divine plan for the church. Spiritual gifts are part of God's divine plan for the church. We're going to get into the fact that we all have a spiritual gift if not more. Well, maybe that's part of the Roman numeral one that I tossed out. So, if you don't have that sheet then I'll tell you later. So by Understanding God's divine plan for the church and the model that we see you or the framework that we see is infusions for 11 to 16. Which we're going to look at?

This is number one. We looked at the four passages of deal with spiritual gifts. This is one of them. And we had 1st Corinthians 12:2, different passages. And we had, you know, got to Ephesians 4. And here's what it says, beginning and verse 11, and he himself gave some to be Apostles, some prophets, some evangelist, and some pastors, and teachers, K-Y for the equipping of the Saints, for the work of Ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ. Okay, so spiritual gifts, which are summer listed. The reason they're giving is for the equipping of the Saints. I don't know if this will show up on that little The little laser. Does it show up on the screen. It's going to point out pastors teachers prophets. And it's why for the equipping of the Saints who are the Saints? We are. I know we're not little statues that you buy in a store that you put on your shelf. And you pray to. That's not a saint. That's an idle. We are Saints. Paul wrote letters to the Saints. In Ephesus. For example, you didn't like two statues. He wrote to people the ideas that were the holy ones of God cuz we have the Holy Spirit in us. So via for the equipping of the Saints, for the work of Ministry for the edifying of the body. Till none of this is going to go on, till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the son of God. So we all come basically to a perfect man. Perfect. Here's the idea of complete. They finished. Not immature, but perfect. Complete to the measure of the Statue of the fullness of Christ that or you can read. That is so that We should no longer be children. So God doesn't want us to be immature. He doesn't want to be children. So that we should no longer be children. And what happens to children when we're mature, were tossed to and fro back and forth, up and down, and carried about by every wind of Doctrine. Every new thing that comes along, God doesn't want us to go ahead, jump ship and go after that, you know, cuz they're new Fast, new things, new church programs that come along and people jump ship from the course. They've been on to go to this. We need to test those things and make sure they're of God. I'm not going to get into all that. But we do need to test going on. And these things are happening by the trickery of men. There are certain televangelist that are on today that are not speaking truth. They're speaking their own made up stuff. Be careful. By the trickery of men in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting. Yes, and you think Satan is behind this cuz he wants to confuse people. But speaking the truth in love. There you go, Joel. We're talkin about Sunday school this morning. Speaking. The truth in love may grow up, grow up to be mature in all things into him. Who is the head? Who's that Christ? From whom from Christ, the whole body. That's us where the body join together. Joined and knit together by what every joint supplies.

It's a long section according to the effective working by which every part each and every one of us. Doesn't share that causes growth of the Body for the edifying, that's as fancy word for building up. Back in the old days. They said well, this is an amazing edifice. It if I'm used to build up. So for the edifying of itself, the body in love.

That makes sense. That's what signs and spiritual gifts are given to us to build up the church. Well, here's the three and we will look at them again. First 12 we looked at is to equip the Saints. Where the Saints? So another words when you go to church, the pastor is speaking. He is equipping. You. With knowledge from here. Another words, he spent all his time. Going through looking at the words. What do they mean? And explaining it because he's trying to equip you and Pastor John doesn't amazing. Thanks. So be blessed. Feel blessed that we're in this church.

Okay, so we're equipping the Saints giving them the tools they need to succeed God's program. And then, what else is it saying that passage? We looked at to serve each other. Another words were supposed to serve each other. What did Christ say, you know, when they were all the same? Who's the greatest? What did he do? He sat down, they wash their feet. He served them. That's what we need to do with each other. I'm not saying you have to go wash, everybody's feet. That's not what I'm saying, but when you see a need and you can meet It Beat It. Serve each other. There's a verse versus. There are differences of Ministries again back to what Joel read their differences of ministry. So, not everyone's going to have the same sum will be football. Sure the movie Cooks, you know, doing different kinds of things helps encouragement comforting there, different kinds of Ministries, but the same Lord, there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. It was God's working. The same guy was working through all of us in different ways. We have a great God, by the way. But the manifestation of the spirit manifestation is when you manifested something to be made, visible made known a parent. Write a ship's manifest would say, this is what the cargo is. Manifest to make it known to make it scene. The manifestation of the spirit is given to each one for the prophet of all. That's why we have gifts for the prophet of all. It's not for her. Hey, I've got this gift in it or not. Great, you know I speak in tongues or I you know, I'm a pastor teach at me or whatever. It's not trust the Lord and over anyone else. It's to work and serve together for the prophet of all.

So, the next thing dealing with our Understanding God's divine plan is to build up or edify. If you want the body of Christ to build it up, not tear it down. When we squabble when we argue, when we have issues, when we break and split and make new denominations. Are we building up? No, we're separating into little groups. We need to build up. We need to serve, and we need to strengthen. Otherwise, if I see someone who's got a weakness, I help. Good night, because you know, you've heard this story about a chain. The weakest link is is the strength strength of the chain. So if one of us has the weakest link and someone is not saying who or what? But somebody would be a weak link needs to be built up to strengthen. So the whole she is strong. Okay, so buildup.

So he goes on 1st Corinthians 14. This is after that kind of where we've been dealing with house and brother. And when you come together, each of you has a song as a teaching has a tongue. Has a revelation, has an interpretation. And then, what does he say? Let all things we've done for edification for building being built up, everything that we do should be towards edify. Making the structure Better Sound. Match, the building code, so to speak. And lastly, the Understanding God's plan for the church is to bring glory to God by doing these things by building each other up by equipping my serving. We're going to bring God glory to bring to God, glory 1st, Peter 4, verses 10 and 11. Each one has received the gift. He mentions gifts, but he doesn't tell you anything about it. Specifically named them. He says minister to one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Anyone speaks. Let him speak is the Oracles of God anyone ministers. Let him do with as with the ability with got supplies. So that In all things. God may be what? Glorified. So when we squabble, when we disagree, when we split. Are we bringing glory to God? No? So, to bring Glory through Christ, Jesus. Jesus Christ isn't along the glory and the Dominion forever and ever. Amen. Okay. Now, purpose of science. Here's a quick table and you're going to go what? Just try to show you. What we just talked about in a chart King doing this New Year's to vindicate new Messengers. To offend the Kate new revelation say, those are three categories that we talked about. That's what purpose of signs and miracles gifts, your miraculous gift to do these things. There are three ages through history that this stuff shows up only three times. Yes, there are Miracles here and their individual. But look through your Bible. And tell me there are three periods of time where this was very common and you'll see that they all answer these three things. The first one is the founding of the Jewish Nation Moses. That was the first year before that there was no Nation. They were scattered Believers, but now we're talkin about of people called out and Nation who were the Messengers. let's, Black Moses and Joshua, the primary Messengers, right? And the time. Circa 1450 to 1380 BC. Okay, what do I send to Kate the new revelation? It was the founding of monotheism meaning the worship of one God before that people worship, rocks and trees and multiple gods, of course after they did too but he was basically calling them out of pagan peoples and saying I'm one God worship me forsake all these Pagan stuff. Okay, I'm just quickly. So, the next Euro that we see signs and Gifts prophets, like Elijah Elijah. And what were they doing? They were telling a new revelation forsake idolatry. Give it up wrong. Kingdom and Christ. Loved the church gives me is the third. These are the three eras. Where would you see these signs? At the founding of the Jewish Nation, the time of the prophets and the kingdom in Jesus came offering the kingdom and obviously Jesus. And later. The apostles are The Messengers and who were doing the signs and wonders Jesus and the apostles Circa 2895, 80. And of course, Jesus was offering the kingdom, which was rejected established, the king of the church, and those are our programs. Now, I do have three charts and I think this is one of them on the back table, if you want. That's coffee of this. You can pick it up on the way out. So you don't have to try to write this down? Okay, so another reason or purpose for spiritual gifts. Is the utilization?

Aspira spiritual gifts to utilize them to Howard, do they work themselves out. So to speak scripture, like when we were reading today, clearly, he spit some gifts are only temporary. Not all the gifts that we saw. Those 20 that are listed, not all of those are active today. Now, you'll have some people who disagree with me, but based on what we just discovered those three ears. We don't need, we don't have Apostles. Right? So the gift of Apostles is going there aren't any Apostles. So therefore all the miraculous signs that are associated with Apostles are also gone. Does that make sense? Okay, so some gifts are clearly temporary. For example, here's the ones that we talked about sign gifts. They're on any today. Revelatory gift new revelation. Is anybody write new scripture?

So revelatory gifts or Apostolic gifts the gifts of being an apostle of those are temporary. So by their nature, these gifts that we just looked at, they have a limited time frame. They start program starts new messenger, new new things are going on, and then the program ends. And I know so that timeframe close like a door window, opens, and then closes.

Okay, so examples obviously of these. You might think of Samson. Samson had a great power, but it was taken away from him. Wasn't it seemed? We had to temporarily. First, I had to do with his foul and having his haircut. We're not going to get in all that today. Does anybody Barber? Just kidding. The Tabernacle Craftsman look in the, the Torah, when they were creating the various implements the Ark of the Covenant, in the various pieces of the Tabernacle God empowered, certain of them to do what he wanted them to do. It was temporary that make sense.

Okay, obviously profits, if we talked about temporary and apostles, temporary. Those are examples. Okay. So, how else is the U of H? Utilization of spiritual gifts. Some we said our temporary others are obviously permanent for the church. The permanent. Otherwise, they don't just come and go. Like today. I have the gift of evangelism tomorrow. I don't doesn't work that way. In the permanent. Why? Because they're employed to bring the church to maturity. God wants us to be mature, to be to be complete. Not incomplete, not to be childlike.

Okay, so employed to bring the church to maturity and they're empowering the church body for service because we have spiritual gifts, we can do, we can serve each other. No words above and beyond what we could do physically the spirit helps.

One powered if this is probably hard to see but there's a breakdown of the spiritual gifts in a temporary which we called revelatory or sign gifts. And permanent non-regulatory meeting or not for Revelation and they're not miraculous miraculous. So, you have on the one side, you have apostleship very limited, small group 12 to 13, guys. That's it. And the signs were proof that they have the gift of apostleship. So those were Miracles, healing tongues, interpretation of tongues. And then revelatory prophecy, discernment knowledge, wisdom, Faith. Now this isn't mean like cuz we all have faith, just means faith above and beyond know the words to be like the three friends of Shadrach Meshach, in a Bendigo. I'm not saying it went well, but this is an example. They went into the fire. They had Faith Beyond Simple Faith. You understand what I'm saying, which is spiritual gift. And then, of course, the other ones that are active today in the church, exhortation rulings and superintendent, Mercy, Etc. Damn. This is not a class on spiritual gifts for say it's looking at the purposes and understanding. So that brings me to Roman numeral number to which would have been Roman numeral 3, which would have been in an hour later than we are. Now if I hadn't cut out that first number,

That leads us to the fact that there is perplexity today. The perplexity of spiritual gifts in the church. Today people are confused. They don't understand how things work. Okay. Now to help us understand, we're going to look at something called the model given by the Apostle Paul.

The model given by the Apostle, Paul now is you'll read this chapter or this passage, but he may not have realized that he was reading the model of Paul. And Sabrina break that down. What does it mean when Paul was talking about never how it said to another to another to another to another remember that passage always reading is a lot of another's. Okay, in that passage the usage of the word. Another sets of three categories for us in English. You can't see it. You have to go to the Greek to see it and we're going to give you a little greek lesson today. So there are three categories of temporary gifts that are recorded for us and 1st Corinthians 12:8 to 10. Three categories. And these are separated again. Four to one is given the word of wisdom to one is given okay, through the spirit to another the word of knowledge, to The Same Spirit to another Faith by The Same Spirit to another gift of healing, by The Same Spirit to another the working of Miracles to another prophecy, to another Discerning spirits to another different kinds of tongues to another the interpretation of tongues. A lot of another's is in there. Okay, so the fill in your blank to another is given

In other words, this is how Paul set up these categories for us by the two different words that he used for another. He shows us, he creates three categories of those gifts that we just looked at. Game, for example, one of the words that he uses to the Greek word, olives. I lost it means another of the same kind. Another words. It's in the same group. It's the same kind of gift. Another of the same kind. But then, he uses another word. He uses the word. That's called Heather, Ross. which is another of a different kind. For example, the only way I know of this word in our language today is the word heterosexual. What does that mean? That means two people in an intimate relationship. There are different kinds. There's a there, another, but one's male one, female that make sense. That's what we get that term from the Greek. It means another of a different kind. Rather than Alice. So and you can't read that, I'm sure but that's the same passage. This is one of the charts that you when I finish this you'll see back there. You can pick up there's an asterisk. With the word, another and a double asterisk with the the other word me, another one single asterisks telling you there's that's all us. Another of the same kind and the double Astor is telling you ahead of Ross, mother of a different kind. And you're probably going. What are you talking about? Cuz everybody with me. Okay, so the two words again. I lost one asterisk. And to ask Heather, Ross. Is there a Greek words in the transliterations and what they mean? Another of the same kind another of a different kind. So so what he does for us cuz he creates three categories, like three different bowls of fruit, oranges, bananas and grapes. And you see? Maybe you can't cuz it's pretty small underneath the baskets. It says another of the same kind and then a list. What's in that kind? For example, the first one word of wisdom word of knowledge. Those are the same time. And then between the baskets, it says another of a different kind. So you look at this same time. Then you go to the another of a different kind and then those are of the same kind and he lists what those are. Are you following me? I'm kind of lost yet. Good. And then to the next basket, another of a different kind and then he lifts the other two in the last two there. They listed our tongues and interpretation of tongues. So, those are three different categories that he creates for this model, in chapter 12 verses 8 to 10 1st Corinthians. Can't be saying all these different gift. He broke them into three categories. And you're going, okay. So what?

Let me get to that in a minute. Hold on. So these three categories are created for us. And number be, by the way. I hope my wife put this together and they disappeared, you noticed to make room for the be getting a senior notes. I hope be for what for Revelation and authentication of the early church. These three categories are for that purpose. These different kinds of gifts, the temporary gives. Now, we're talkin temporary. He remember, we have two kinds temporary and permanent. We're talkin temporary. The ones in chapter 12, 8 to 10 or temporary. How do we know this? We're getting there? So, these gifts. Were limited in their duration. They had an expiration on a stop and you probably already been there. We're getting to. Here's the passage where it tells us these things now. There are three listed here in a Chapter 13. Verse 8, you after the great passage on love, love, never fails, right? We get to let you know, love, never fails. But where or if there are prophecies now, you go to your category prophecies. He represents anything. It was in that group that kind. You never received picking one word to represent. That whole group that we saw on chapter 12, 8 to 10. Are you still with me? Okay. I know I'm moving past. Okay. So he says it's, there are prophecies or anything in that group of the same kind. It says, they will, What? Fail they're going to stop to be done away with, they're going to be polished. If there are tongues, that's would be tongues. And interpretation of tongues that we saw in chapter 8 at 12 8 to 10. It says, they will cease. The name of stop. Is that what it says? They will cease. And whether or if it's Justin's new translation, there is knowledge. That would be that middle group. That have the, the longer list, it will, what vanish away. All three of those groups are told in the very next chapter going to stop. K. This is where the confusion is because people refuse to read this and understand this. You don't like the idea that it's going to stop. K.

So when are they going to stop there going to stop at the manifestation or the appearance of that which is perfect. That, which is perfect.

Our knowledge of scripture, our knowledge of the world is naturally imperfect or incomplete.

It's imperfect incomplete and even says in chapter 13. Verse number 9. It says we know in part, we don't know everything. God hasn't given us everything but we know in part because he's talking about his day and he says, we know in part verse 9 here. We just said things were going to fail. Be abolished done away with and set. Reminder May 1st 9 for we know in part and we do what prophesy in part. These are the spiritual gifts gift of knowledge. No impart. Any gift of Prophecy. Is partial temporary we know in part. So we know in part. And we prophesy in part.

Okay, but

when the Perfect has come, which we seem verse 10. Kingstone. We read verse 9 is back up there for you to see for. We know in part and we prophesy in part, but When that which is perfect has come then that, which is in part. Will be done away.

Things in the first century that were, for the formation of the church. Because guess what? Paul hadn't written the Epistles yet. John in the gospels were being written, but they didn't have what we had, was the Old Testament. So God was giving them revelation. To get the churchgoing informed, but once the perfect has come the impartial is gone. We don't need it anymore. That makes sense. It was like a crutch for a helper. So the Bible is God's complete Revelation. There are lots of horses. You can go to talking about that which is perfect. But in chapter 14, again, this morning, still in that same area of 1st Corinthians, 12, 13 and 14. Okay, and he says Brethren, do not be children. Do not be immature. Do not be in complete, be mature and understanding. However, and Malice be bathed, in other words. Don't, don't have my house. Don't be humble, be gentle. But he says what? But in understanding be what mature, I want you to understand this. He says you need to be mature.

Okay, no, the right button. So James 125, but he who looks into the perfect law of Liberty. What is that? The perfect law of Liberty. And it's not a forgetful here, but a doer of this work. This one will be blessed in what he does. I mean, there's a lot there we could go on with but they were talking about primarily the perfect law. What is the perfect in the perfect has come? When the Bible has come when it's complete with John finish writing the Book of Revelation. God says, okay it's done. It's finished complete. Now, you have all the Revelation. I'm going to give you until I take you home.

So guess what? We need. Nothing else today for Christian growth. We have God's complete word. Yes, Satan is trying to tell, you know, knows what about the missing gospels. What about this? What about that? In the early church? Threw away those Gnostic Gospels and apocryphal books because they said these are not of God. They, they disagreed with wood. It said before. So you disregarded them, but guess what? Two, thousand years later. Satan is dredged them up again. And we have in their people. They're saying, we need to study these, we need to put them in our Bibles. No.

So, when you nothing else? the imperfect and incomplete will be done away with

So, this is a quotation from Strong's.

This is specifically regarding like tongues, but it also references the other gifts. Let me read. It says, there is no evidence of the continuance of this gift after Apostolic times. And then after the apostles are gone, when John's gone, it's over. Time's the apostolic times nor indeed in the later times of the Apostles themselves, even in later years, and it was early, Apostle days. Yes. But even in the later years of the Apostles before, you know, Paul and Peter and others were killed. They didn't have any use of tongues. It was gone. Going on in, this is a fulfillment in the, in this way of 1st Corinthians, 13:8, that this gift with ceased in the church is just as wood, prophecies and knowledge. The other things in 13, 8/4 Corinthians. 13:8 in a sense that of knowledge received season the church's. Sorry go on just as with prophecies and knowledge in the sense of knowledge received by immediate Supernatural power. The completion of the Holy scriptures has provided the church with all that is necessary for individual and Collective guidance. Instruction and edification. Other words is not just my words. Scholars have been saying this for a long time. The purpose of the tongues of spiritual gifts. Those things are gone. The temporary gifts, okay. So this is a chart. This is one of the three back there. You can see the whole chart them in. I broke it down, clean. My wife, broke it down. Here's a box, the gift of Prophecy, healing Miracles, Discerning Spirits, Faith revelatory gifts are in that first in First Corinthians 13:8, where it says, if there are prophecies, they will fail. All of those. The Greek word is cut there. Go. I know you're going. Who cares what it means to render inoperative to make ineffective or powerless to be destroyed, abolish done away with So if these gifts are going to be done away with a Polish destroyed. Should we pay attention? Those gifts aren't around anymore. I think there's a second one gift of tongues, or an end, interpretation of tongues, says, that they will cease. The Greek word here is different. This is Paolo Tang. The means to cause, to rest to cost to cease. And basically, it's the idea is that they will stop of themselves and you're going, I don't understand. And if you can read it, the second to last line that says, because it's in the middle voice. It literally means they shall make themselves cease or automatically cease of themselves. I can't have time to give you a Greek lesson, but there are two kinds of verbs here. Let me show you the third box. Gift of knowledge, Word of Wisdom. It again, is the same as the first word cut their ghetto. So, the first one and the third one of the same word. The one for tongues is a different word, meaning the verb saying, it will cease. So 3 rendered inoperative to make an effective power loss to be destroyed bolish done away with. Okay. So this creates a timeline for US based on these words. Here's the whole chart. You probably can't read it, but pick it up, take it with you. So you see the three boxes that we just looked at, but on the far right? The big long box. It says the complete thing. The Bible. Okay, when the Bible, the complete has come, these three are gone. But if you can see in the timeline, the first one, in the third one, go to to the Bible that 95 ad is the time at the bottom, but guess what? The one, the tongues stop before that. Cuz it's a middle voice. The other ones are passive. Meaning something was going to act upon them to stop them. But the middle voice in Greek means that they stopped of themselves. And it happened probably in 70 AD at the destruction of the temple, tongues were no longer used. The other ones disappeared, when Paul was gone. I'm sorry. John was gone. Okay, so we have the complete thing. We have the Bible. K. So that leads us to what I called him and sharing of knowledge there with me. We're almost done. Maturing of knowledge. I always have too much to give you guys. Some people probably like antsy to get out others as they don't give us more get some more. Okay, so there are three stages of understanding as we looked in 1st Corinthians, 13:13. When I was a child, I spoke as a child. I understood as a child. I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things. Okay, and he goes on to say for now. We see in a mirror dimly or in some translations Darkly, but then one day, we're going to see him face to face. Okay. Now I know in part which we looked at already, then it, but then I shall know. Just as I am. I shall know. Just as I am. Also known. And now abideth faith. Hope love these three, but the greatest of these is love, OK, Google, knowing. There are two different words being used in the passage of dealing with love, or no gives me what is to know to understand and the other one is to know fully. So I shall know fully. Just as I am known, completely not immature lie, completely. So, three stages of understanding their partial.

Mature. In Foley.

Continue with the idea for the Merc maturing of knowledge. There are three stages of human growth. as we just saw, Childhood. Manhood know. I was a child to do this. Now. I'm a man I put away childish, things. And eventually, there's going to be another stage when we are glorified. We are in a state of perfection childhood. Manhood, which is where we are now or Womanhood. If you want to go there and protection one day, we'll warn his presence. We will be perfected. Our understanding will be perfect. But there are three stages of the church. Really? Yeah. The infancy of the church was when the New Testament, these spiritual gifts that we've been talking about were in the infancy of the church, to set it up to get it going. The next stage of the church is the church today. What is it maturity? We have everything that we need for maturity. We have God's word, everything to grow and to understand the security.

The third stage is the church after the Rapture glorified or with God. Will no longer be an instant or mature will be glorified complete, perfect. And guess what? There are three stages of gifts and virtues, which is listed in the last part of that passage. You looked at their partial or temporary gifts. And then the three virtues that exist today, faith. Hope And love another words. That's the characteristics of the church today. Faith. Hope and love. We have faith, we have the hope of Christ, and hope here is not a roll the dice, and I hope that when I get saved, it's a confident expectation. We know we just haven't received the goods yet. I still have a fleshly body. One day. I might have a glorified body. Just like you. so, and of course, the greatest of these that will remain Will be with, God will be in the presence of love. There's a chart.

Partial. But you are fully. Childhood theater stages of understanding stages of growth. Stages of the church stages of Gibson virtues. K. I'm just filling in the blanks for you. Not that you have that chart. I'm sorry. Cheryl is just one of the charge that we had back there. So there are three chargeback. There are three handouts. I didn't want to cram them into your oversized bulletin already, so I didn't. But you can pick him up if you'd like. And if they if they do, run out come to me and I can go get you one. My wife has them on the computer in the office. You can print more. Okay, so the maturing of knowledge we start out. As infants. We work toward maturity and eventually we get to perfection. That is our hope and I can't not a crapshoot. It's our certainty. One day. We will be with the Lord. We will be perfect. We will be now. We're mature. That doesn't mean we don't make mistakes, but we're mature. We have everything that we need right here. which is why you come to church because the pastor or where was teaching is pulling things out of here to do what to equip the Saints. Night. And that's the whole plan. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you, Lord, for today. We thank you for your words that in the confusion of today, with uncertainty about certain gifts, with looked at it. I pray that this will be clear in people's hearts and Minds. It is your teaching, not mine. And that you will comfort, those who are at a loss for what's going on, and what's happening and that there's so much differences of opinion. That Satan is a master of lies and he infiltrates, even among those who believe and instigates false teachings and false ideas, help us to be Discerning, help us to use your words. The guide map, not our personal feelings about something, or even our personal experiences going to because the experiences can be wrong. Help us to fall back all the time on your word. And may you be glorified we pray in Christ's name? Amen?
