2 Timothy 3:1-7

In March of 1956, new evangelicalism listed eight features of their movement. They were as follows:
A friendly attitude toward science.
A willingness to re-examine beliefs concerning the work of the Holy Spirit.
A more tolerant attitude toward varying views on eschatology.
A shift away from so-called extreme dispensationalism.
An increased emphasis on scholarship.
A more definite recognition of social responsibility.
A re-opening of the subject of biblical inspiration.
A growing willingness of evangelical theologians to converse with liberal theologians. What they did was compromise to get along with the world, the flesh, and the devil.
Here we see the contributing COMPONENTS to compromise.

I. Philosophies over Scripture. Vs.1-2

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Someone with the attributes of v.2 will not humble their self and follow Christ.

II. Pleasure over Separation. Vs.3-4

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

III. Powerlessness against Sin. V.5

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

IV. Pride in Schools. V.7

Well, if results are the benchmark of success, then
Noah should have scrapped the ark and taken swimming lessons.
Joseph should have cursed his brothers and become immoral.
Daniel shouldn’t have prayed.
The three Hebrews should have bowed.
John the Baptist should have kept his mouth shut.
Jesus should have come down from the cross!
The majority is not the priority.
Conclusion:
When credibility with culture is the goal, compromise is sure to follow. “Satan knows who God is and tries to masquerade as God. He knows Truth and will do everything he can to change that Truth into a lie and yet present it to us as truth.” John Goetch Does preaching work?
1 Corinthians 1:18–21 (AV)
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Does praying work? Matthew 7:7-8
Matthew 7:7–8 AV
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
1 John 5:14–15 AV
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Does God honor faith? Hebrews 11:6
Hebrews 11:6 AV
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Matthew 17:19–20 AV
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Does soul winning work?
Psalm 126:5–6 AV
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Does God bless tithes and offerings?
Malachi 3:7–11 AV
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return? Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
Luke 6:38 AV
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Does God bless faithful service? Proverbs 28:20
Proverbs 28:20 AV
A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
Galatians 6:9 AV
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
