a. Jesus as a shepherd (Image)

i. The bible tells us that is Jesus is our Good Shepherd

ii. The image is fitting in a metaphorical sense

iii. But I doubt very seriously that Jesus was this frail meek individual we see in these painting

iv. Where I get that opinion from?

1. Did you know that most people died from the beatings by the Roman guards.

b. The Real Jesus

i. Picture him as this mighty warrior

v. Whatever image you need to Jesus as this mighty warrior your defender put that in your mind.

vi. You are going to need that image to fend off these attacks by the enemy.

Exposing the Lies

1. The Lie that You’re Doomed

i. This attack says that life is hopeless – There is no way out – I’m just gonna chuck it all.

ii. Even though I walk “through” the dark valley

iii. We don’t stay there

iv. That rod and staff are our guide and protector (We have armor also

v. God doesn’t promise to “deliver” us from trouble

vi. He’s promised to see us through trouble

vii. 2 Corinthians 13:5 Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?

viii. Life is not hopeless

ix. Jesus your warrior and protector

2. The Lie of Worthlessness

i. “I’m not good enough”

ii. God created you – You have tremendous value to your Lord – You are made in the very image of God

iii. Here's the thing: You need to know the “not enough” anthem was composed in the pits of hell. It's crippling, debilitating, paralyzing, Suffocating.

iv. It didn't come from the Good Shepherd.

v. If you're hearing it and repeating it, then it must be an enemy at your table.

vi. Jesus the warrior laid down his life to sit at the table – a table for two

i. Jesus is our warrior but like David we too must grab our weapon and face the giant
